Sitcom Scorecard 2019-20, Week 16: Last Man Standing Debuts Healthily, Easily Leads the Pack

Welcome to this week’s installment of the Sitcom Scorecard. Just a disclaimer, the Sitcom Scorecard is separate from regular Renew/Cancel predictions on the TV Ratings Guide. Let’s take a moment to relax. Here are this week’s standings.

Last Man Standing's Thursday night debut easily led the pack in fourth place with a 1.0. Although it is a far cry from the Friday night aughts, this is still one of the highest rated shows of the season, so far. But it is too early to tell where Last Man Standing's 2020 run will settle. Hopefully, it stays in the top ten. Hopefully, the ratings will be enough for FOX for a third go around.

Looking at ABC, the time slots are in question. We know The Connors and The Goldbergs are certain to get another season, but what about the rest of the ABC comedies? black-ish and mixed-ish, although lower rated, are likely candidates for next season's schedule. For Schooled, Bless this Mess, and Single Parents, it will all go down to ownership. The edge goes to Bless this Mess and Single Parents. American Housewife might also be in the mix. Again, ownership is going to be a key factor in determining who stays and who goes.

With NBC, Superstore and Brooklyn Nine-Nine are definitely on next year's schedule, barring any crazy moves from NBC. With that comes two new comedies. Indebted is coming to the NBC schedule in February. As it looks right now, Perfect Harmony is definitely a goner on NBC, but maybe you will see a potential season 2 on Peacock, NBCUniversal's streaming service.

CBS has two comedies on the bench with Man with a Plan and Broke. If both comedies manage into the 0.6-0.7 range, then things will get dicey. We know The Neighborhood and Bob Hearts Abishola will likely hold comedy slots for next season in addition to Young Sheldon. But it's going to go down to the wire with Carol's Second Act, The Unicorn, and Broke. The edge will go to Carol's Second Act and its 9:30 timeslot, albeit not by much. Speaking of who's leading the pack, in Young Sheldon's case, it has Last Man Standing to worry about a bit. Who will take third place?

Now, enough speculation. Let's take it to the comment section, shall we?
