FADE IN:

EXT. NETWORK HEADQUARTERS - DAY

Network headquarters sits in the heart of Manhattan in New York City. People are filtering in and out of the building.

INT. BUSINESS HALLWAY - DAY

We see Jesse walk towards the conference room.

Suddenly, Charlie then follows behind him and stops him.

CHARLIE
Look! The numbers are in.

JESSE
What do you mean?

Charlie puts the phone towards Jesse.

Jesse scrolls.

His jaw drops.

He then rushes towards Ash’s office.

INT. PRESIDENT’S OFFICE - DAY

Ash sits in his desk lightly working.

Suddenly the door opens to reveal an excited Jesse.

JESSE
We have a breakout!

Ash then jumps out of his seat.

He rushes towards Jesse.

ASH
We did it! We found our hit! Motion everyone to the conference room.

Jesse nods.

JESSE
Will do.

Jesse then turns towards the door and leaves the office.

INT. CONFERENCE ROOM - DAY

SUPER: TEN MINUTES LATER

Matt, Jesse, Kasey, Charlie, Leah, and Ash gather around the conference room table.

The projector screen is on.

INSERT - PROJECTOR SCREEN, reading “THE HIDDEN CITY - 2.5”

Only Ash is standing, and he is motioning towards the projector screen.

ASH
It’s 2020, and we just got a breakout.

JESSE
Charlie, you did that.

CHARLIE
There’s more on my sleeve.

Charlie then gets up from her seat at the conference table.

CHARLIE (CONT'D)
We now have two solid performers in Marietta and Yarbourough, a steady marginal performer in The Bullpen, and a breakout hit in The Hidden City. Our fortunes are turning around.

Charlie then turns to look at Matt, who turns to Charlie.

MATT
But are we the number #1 network?

CHARLIE
Not yet. We still have a lot to work with.

She grabs her laptop out of her bag.

She then opens it and gets the gang’s attention by turning it around.

CHARLIE (CONT’D)
The results of the testing groups on our latest pilots have been overwhelmingly positive.

JESSE
Wow. We did that.

Jesse high-fives Matt and Ash.

Leah then looks up at Charlie.

LEAH
That’s really good news. But how are we going to choose between all these pilots?

MATT
And wasn’t The Bullpen the lowest rated comedy even in the fall compared to now?

CHARLIE
We’re not the broadcast network with the lowest rated comedy on broadcast, Matty Boy.

Matt shrugs back at his seat.

Charlie then points to one show on the Peafowl network, Writer’s Block.

CHARLIE
Remember Peafowl’s Writer’s Block? Five seasons ago, it was a huge breakout hit. Now, it’s the subject of ratings ridicule.

KASEY
Mike is not going to be too happy with you saying that.

CHARLIE
Oh, you mean that arrogant twat from Planet X?

KASEY
My sister Jill works as a writer on that show.

Jesse then motions the gang towards another subject.

JESSE
I for one, would like to see the week 2 numbers for The Hidden City.

ASH
Agreed. Meeting adjourned, and I will congratulate the showrunners of The Hidden City.

Everyone gets up.

They disperse.

On the next Network, a critics presentation commences.
