Preliminary Analysis: Even after nearly 40 years on the air, it's clear that the novelty of Alex Trebek game show 'Jeopardy' has not worn off. The 'Greatest of All Time' special began with a monstrous 2.4 A18-49 rating and over 14 million total viewers. Ratings above a 2.0 are almost unheard of in today's climate so this is an incredibly promising start for the event series. Struggling comedy 'Mixed-ish' (1.1) was handed the luxury of being the direct lead-out and soared to a new series high, breaking the 1.0 threshold for the first time in its run and going six-tenths above its last episode. The boost was less pronounced in the back-half of the night as 'Black-ish' (0.8) only rose two-tenths from its previous outing and 'Emergence' (0.5) just one.
NBC housed the season premiere of 'Ellen's Game of Games' (1.0/1.1) but received diminishing results as the DeGeneres-hosted game show fell several tenths short of the 1.5 it garnered for its January 2019 premiere. There was also little interest in a preview of new comedy 'Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist' (0.6) at 10pm. CBS's 'FBI: Most Wanted' (0.8) got off to a respectable start for its series debut, losing only a tenth from its 'FBI' lead-in (0.9). Earlier in the night, 'NCIS' (1.0) held even with its last installment. Fox's '24 Hours to Hell and Back' (0.7) was noticeably down from its 'Masked Singer'-fueled days but ultimately held its own and matched a steady edition of 'The Resident' (0.7). The CW went with low-rated repeats of 'Batwoman' and 'Black Lightning'.
