When the CW moved Dynasty to Fridays to make room for Life Sentence, one historical precedent is in mind. The CW has moved rookie shows to Friday before with Cult being pulled from its original Tuesday timeslot to the Friday night death slot after two low rated episodes during the 2012-13 season. Keep in mind, that show did relatively worse than what Dynasty is doing now. In a sense, the CW has more patience with the show. Never before in recent history during Mark Pedowitz's CW tenure that a rookie show with a full season order has ever moved to Friday DURING the first season it airs. Not even Crazy Ex-Girlfriend moved to Fridays during its first season. With this news, I don't think the CW has confidence about Dynasty's future. Being fully produced by CBS with a Netflix deal may be the only chance Dynasty has in a second season renewal, but even that is unlikely. Dynasty is now likely to be canceled. Perhaps the CW should have learned from Melrose Place.

In light of the news, I've upgraded Jane the Virgin to likely to be renewed. The CW usually brings back at least two CBS shows, and with both CBS newbies performing poorly, I think Jane the Virgin will likely return. There is no indication that the current season is its last. You could cite Hart of Dixie's entire fourth season airing on Friday, but there were indications of a final season, plus Hart of Dixie was produced by WB and ratings did not warrant another season. The CBS renewal bar is set pretty low this season, and Jane easily clears that.

At the end of the month, I'll have the initial prediction for Black Lightning. iZombie is coming February 26 as the lead-out to DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Life Sentence is coming March 7 replacing Dynasty as the Riverdale lead out, The Originals on April 20 replacing Jane the Virgin, and The 100 premieres April 24 behind The Flash on Tuesdays. Except for The Originals, which is airing its final season, all shows will get their initial predictions after they air. I'll just modify the 70-80 episode rule for fourth and fifth season shows to include unless relative ratings warrant another season.
