Sunday night will bring many series and season premieres, making it one of the most competitive Sundays of the year. With NBC finally joining the picture, ABC returning to scripted programming, and even Fox having a premiere, it will certainly be an exciting ratings night.
Once Upon a Time, 8 PM on ABC
Not really premiere, but it's returning from a lengthy hiatus and the ratings should be interesting nonetheless. The series has averaged a 1.05 over the first ten episodes, but was receiving 0.9s and 1.0s in later episodes. Last year, Once returned from hiatus steady with its latest episode. Do you think it do the same this year?
Time After Time, 9 PM on ABC
Time After Time is ABC's first scripted midseason show to premiere (not counting miniseries When We Rise), and it will be premiering in a special two hour episode, before finishing the rest of its order in the 9 PM slot. The show is an adaptation of the movie and book of the same name. Movie adaptations have not worked very well recently, though Lethal Weapon is doing well for Fox. Do you think Time After Time can break the movie adaptation curse?
Making History, 8:30 PM on Fox
Fox's final comedy premiere of the season is Making History, from Lord Miller Productions (the brains behind Las Man on Earth and Son of Zorn). The series will receive a Simpsons lead-in. While Post-NFL Simpsons is not a bad lead-in, it certainly won't give Making History a large boost. Do you think Making History can overcome this or will it falter like Zorn's later episodes?
The Last Man on Earth, 9:30 PM on Fox
Also coming to Fox is the second half of the Last Man on Earth's third season. The series has averaged a 0.98 over the first nine episodes. Last season. the series returned from hiatus down two tenths from the midseason finale? Do you think it will do the same this year or can it pull something higher?
Little Big Shots, 8 PM on NBC
The first part of NBC's Sunday lineup is Little Big Shots, last year's surprise hit that averaged a 2.17 in its inaugural season. The series, which stars Steve Harvey, was pulling high ones near the end of its first season. Do you think it can replicate the first season's success or will it disappoint?
Chicago Justice, 9 PM on NBC
Next up for NBC is Chicago Justice, a part of the highly successful Chicago series. The show, which pulled a 1.7 for its premiere on Wednesday, will also be receiving a This Is Us lead in for its third episode on Tuesday. Justice's success likely hinges on whether or not Little Big Shots can provide a solid lead in. Will Justice be as successful of the previous Chicago series or will it be Dick Wolf's first failure in the Windy City?
Shades of Blue, 10 PM on NBC
The final premiere of the night will be Shades of Blue, entering its second season on a new night. Its first season averaged a 1.17 on Thursdays. Will this season be able to hold its head above water or will it sink?
