Will There Be a Short Final Season as Usual, or Will This Be the First Time Since Smallville that The Vampire Diaries Gets a Full Final Season?
This is not the first time Ian Somerhalder has said anything about the show. Typically, the CW has given short final seasons for long running veterans. Currently the show is not doing too terribly for Friday standards, but as one commenter pointed out, the only two shows that have moved from Fridays are Supernatural and Reign. With this announcement, this would probably give a whole new meaning to "Friday night death slot". Only time will tell how many episodes the unofficial final season will get.
