BoJack Horseman and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Reviews

Hey guys, I'm Aasim, a new contributor to The TV Ratings Guide, and I thought I would start off by reviewing all the Netflix shows I have seen so far.

1. Bojack Horseman - Season 1.

I will admit, I was not impressed with the pilot.  But after a while I gave it another shot and I found the show to be much deeper than some weird animal version of Entourage. The show is about Bojack struggling to fix himself after his career has gone downhill, all the while dealing with his friends such as Todd, Bojack's slacker roommate, Princess Carolyn, his agent, and Diane, his ghost writer for his biography. The show's main triumph involves dealing with everyone's insecurities as well as trying to shy away from their perceived stereotypes. Perhaps the reason I love this show is because I see myself in Bojack, a person who no matter how much wrong he does can't seem to change for the better.

2. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Since I'm a big 30 Rock fan, I was excited to watch Tina Fey's new show despite its dumb initial working name Tooken. Thankfully they changed the name to Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt before shifting the show to Netflix where it has thrived instead of being stuck on a bad timeslot on NBC. UKS follows Kimmy Schmidt( as she tries to live life in New York after being trapped in a bunker by a crazy reverend for 15 years.
The cast includes Titus, a struggling actor who is Kimmy's roommate, Lilian, Kimmy's Landlord who constantly keeps coming to her house, and Jacqueline Voorhees, Kimmy's boss.
Like 30 Rock, UKS has a great cast, especially Kimmy who despite her troubled past is capable of looking at the bright side of things. The series has a great blend of comedy with a little bit of serious in the mix so it's great for people who love niche comedies like Parks and Recreation

Thanks for reading. Look forward to my reviews for some of the upcoming fall shows.
