CW Renew/Cancel Predictions: Significant Mother Will be Cancelled

With the Fall 2015 season underway, the only show still undecided on its fate is Significant Mother. I'm Jessica, and this marks the start of the CW Renew/Cancel Predictions. Each week, predictions are made compared to the network's scripted average. Without further ado, here are this week's predictions!

Format for predictions:
Show Title (Average A18-49 Rating)

Significant Mother (0.2)

Likely to be Canceled

Certain to be Renewed
The Originals (premieres 10/8)

Fate Determined
Beauty and the Beast (renewed)

Yet to Premiere
Arrow (premieres 10/7)
Containment (midseason)
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (premieres 10/12)
DC's Legends of Tomorrow (midseason)
The Flash (premieres 10/6)
iZombie (premieres 10/6)
Jane the Virgin (premieres 10/12)
Reign (premieres 10/9)
Supernatural (premieres 10/7)
The Vampire Diaries (premieres 10/8)

First I will start off with good news: The Originals is certain to be renewed at the end of the 2015-16 season. This is its third season and at the end of the season, it will have enough episodes to be an automatic lock-in for a fourth season renewal.

The question is: why is Reign not automatically certain to be renewed? Reign only has 18 episodes this season. Will it become this season's Suburgatory and Happy Endings? Only time will tell.

And to point out the obvious, ratings do matter no matter if it's a CBS show or WB show. The CW schedule is already too full as it is. Let's go back to memory lane: last season Hart of Dixie was canceled not because of ratings since on Fridays it was not as woefully rated as Nikita's final season and Beauty and the Beast's third season. Ultimately there was no room on the CW Fall schedule for it, and was ultimately thrown to the wolves.

Now back to one summer show that's still on the air: woefully-rated Significant Mother. The show averages a 0.2 A 18-49 rating. With that rating, it's already unlikely to be renewed. This week the show returned after a short hiatus. Low rated from the start, the show never looked like a survivor. One thing's for certain, it's obviously dead.

And without further ado, let's get ready to rumble! Let me know in the comments below!
