ABC Renew/Cancel Week 17: Home Economics May Not Go Into Foreclosure After All

This week on the ABC Renew/Cancel, a surprising turn of events, as one of TV's lowest-rated comedies starts to look more and more like a real contender for renewal. Keep reading for my thoughts on Home Economics!

Home Economics: In a vacuum, Home Economics looks pretty rough. Its 0.34 average is the lowest-rated half-hour comedy on ABC's schedule. However, in recent weeks, Home Economics has actually been out-rating 8:30 comedy The Wonder Years and rating on an equal level as Tuesday comedy Blackish. Considering the support that ABC has shown for this show (it is heavily promoted by the network), I do see a path to renewal for it. At this point, I would rate it as being mildly stronger than The Wonder Years. If ABC plans to keep the same number of comedy hours next season as they have this season, I can easily see them renewing all of their current comedies. While I remain incredibly cautious with this show, I do believe that, at this point, a renewal is more likely than a cancellation. Home Economics LEANS RENEWAL.

The Rookie and The Good Doctor: Since our last update, ABC ordered additional season of both of these reliable 10 PM players. Though I didn't have either down as a lock for renewal, both were obvious renewals and correct predictions for me.

What do you think of my predictions? What are your predictions? Let me know in the comments and vote in the poll of the week!
