Coming off what NBC called "historic" ratings for its most recent Olympics broadcasts, NBC has decided to give the people what they don't want: a scripted drama about the Olympics. The straight-to-series order is said to be for a full twenty-two episode season, and will be written by top NBC auteurs including Dick Wolf and Tina Fey. The drama, which does not yet have a title, is expected to be an episodic anthology series, with each episode centering on a different athlete from across the globe and sporting spectrum. Considering the massive ratings declines for the recent Summer and Winter Olympics, the show should fit in just fine on NBC, which appears to be racing to the ratings bottom as fast as they possibly can. Inside sources say that this is NBC's last-ditch effort to make a profit on the Olympics, which lost them massive amounts of money in 2021 and 2022. Good luck with that...
