INT. BEACH HOUSE - NIGHT
Brittaney lies in bed. Edison enters with two glasses of wine.
EDISON
For my wife.
Edison hands Brittaney a glass.
BRITTANEY
So, how should we celebrate the last night of our honeymoon?
EDISON
I can think of one thing.
They kiss. Brittaney's phone rings.
BRITTANEY
It’s Sarah.
Edison takes her phone and answers.
EDISON
This better be an emergency.
SARAH
(Phone)
Christina’s fine, it’s Andrew. His appendix burst. They’re about to take him to surgery.
EDISON
So he’ll live.
SARAH
Yes of course he will.
Edison hangs up.
BRITTANEY
What was wrong?
EDISON
Sarah just wanted to give us an update. Everything's fine. Now, where were we?
BRITTANEY
Edison.
EDISON
Andrew’s in the hospital.
BRITTANEY
What!
EDISON
His appendix burst.
Brittaney gets up and starts packing.
EDISON
What’re you doing?
BRITTANEY
Our friend YOUR friend is in the hospital.
EDISON
For his appendix. It’s not an essential organ.
BRITTANEY
I’m sorry Edison but the honeymoon is over.
EDISON
Damn it Andrew!
INT. HOSPITAL ROOM - NIGHT
Andrew lies in bed. Sarah enters.
SARAH
Hey, how are you feeling?
ANDREW
Fine. Doctor gave me some morphine while we wait for an operating room to open.
SARAH
Megan and Paige are taking care of Christina.
ANDREW
Good thing they were close.
Sarah sits next to Andrew’s bed.
SARAH
Britt and Edison are on their way. They’ll be here in the morning.
ANDREW
Did you tell her I’m sorry for ruining her honeymoon?
SARAH
I don’t think she cares right now.
Andrew chuckles and winces.
ANDREW
Sarah listen, in case something happens-
SARAH
Stop. Nothing is going to happen. You’re having your appendix removed, that’s it. You’ve been watching to many medical shows.
ANDREW
But just in case. I need you to know. I-
A nurse walks in.
NURSE
Alright Andrew, it’s time.
Another nurse enters and they take Andrew away.
INT. CAR - NIGHT
Brittaney is driving. Edison is in the passenger’s seat. Edison’s phone dings.
EDISON
Sarah said they are taking him into surgery.
BRITTANEY
That’s good.
Edison chuckles.
BRITANEY
What on earth is so funny about this situation?
EDISON
Nothing it’s just… Andrew always got on to me about my health and yet I’m still gonna have my appendix.
BRITTANEY
Edison your friend is going into surgery. You’re lucky it wasn’t worse. You could have lost a friend.
EDISON
I’m sorry. Your right.
INT. HOSPTIAL ROOM
Andrew is asleep. Sarah sits next to him. Andrew wakes up.
ANDREW
Sarah?
SARAH
Hey, how are feeling?
ANDREW
I feel like one of my organs was removed.
SARAH
(Chuckling)
Yeah. You scared me there for a sec.
ANDREW
Sarah, before my Appendix ruined the moment, I was going to say-
SARAH
Shhhh. Don’t say anything. Just rest.
ANDREW
Sarah I-
SARAH
I know. I know.
In that moment, it is a new beginning for both. But whether it is one of friendship or romance, that is to be determined.
Later.
Andrew is alone in the room sleeping.
Edison enters and sees Andrew.
EDISON
Oh no. I’m too late.
Edison walks over to Andrew.
EDISON
I’m sorry it had to end this way buddy. You were a good friend. My best friend. I’m gonna miss you buddy.
Andrew awakens.
ANDREW
Edison?
EDISON
Zombie!
Edison grabs a chair and raises it.
ANDREW
Edison no!
EDISON
I thought you were dead.
ANDREW
I had my appendix removed.
EDISON
I knew that but you know, in those medical shows, it never ends well.
ANDREW
We really need to find something else to watch.
