Today is the day of ABC's upfront. The biggest questions with their fall schedule are if Fresh Off the Boat makes the fall schedule, whether or not Once Upon a Time stays on Sunday, and where Quantico goes. The answers to these questions are that Fresh Off the Boat makes the fall schedule (in a new slot), Once Upon a Time will air on Friday, and Quantico goes to midseason. Other notable aspects of the schedule are new series The Mayor and The Gospel of Kevin on Tuesday and The Good Doctor launching post-Dancing.
Here is the full schedule:
Sunday
7:00 America's Funniest Home Videos
8:00 To Tell the Truth
9:00 Shark Tank
10:00 Ten Days in the Valley (new!)
It's no secret that ABC Sundays have been rough in 2016-17, with many low-rated series including Quantico, American Crime, Time After Time, Conviction, and Secrets and Lies all failing to do well at all. 8 PM veteran Once Upon a Time also weakened considerably, and zero of these shows are returning to Sunday this year. ABC is bringing in reality shows to strengthen the night. To Tell the Truth will lead the night, which it had done a few times in the past season, to mild success. ABC's longtime Friday series Shark Tank will move to Sundays, and will lead in to newbie 10 Days in the Valley.
Monday
8:00 Dancing with the Stars
10:00 The Good Doctor (new!)
Monday night will see another new 10 PM occupant. This time around, new medical series the Good Doctor will receive that slot, taking over for Quantico. Veteran reality series Dancing With the Stars will again return at 8.
Tuesday
8:00 The Middle
8:30 Fresh Off the Boat
9:00 black-ish
9:30 The Mayor (new!)
10:00 The Gospel of Kevin (new!)
Tuesday is getting another overhaul, with only The Middle remaining in its timeslot from 2016-17. Fresh Off the Boat gets a timeslot upgrade, moving to the now-vacated slot of American Housewife. Blackish takes over the 9 PM slot, moving away from Modern Family and ABC Wednesday for the first time. New comedy The Mayor, which is not a family comedy, takes the troubled 9:30 slot. Agents of SHIELD is nowhere to be seen, and The Gsspel of Kevin will take over at 10.
Wednesday
8:00 The Goldbergs
8:30 Speechless
9:00 Modern Family
9:30 American Housewife
10:00 Designated Survivor
This season, ABC Wednesday will not feature black-ish for the first time in three years. Instead of putting a new show in that vacated slot, American Housewife is getting another chance to shine with a Modern Family lead-in. The rest of the night is exactly as it was in the previous season.
Thursday
8:00 Grey's Anatomy
9:00 Scandal
10:00 How to Get Away With Murder
After taking last fall off, ABC is bringing Scandal (and TGIT) back to fall for its final season, with Grey's Anatomy and How To Get Away With Murder also returning. It's ABC's only night that will feature a line-up that aired together at some point in the past season.
Friday
8:00 Once Upon a Time
9:00 Marvel's Inhumans (new!)/Marvel's Agents of SHIELD
10:00 20/20
After the surprising cancellations of both Friday multicams, ABC is changing Fridays a lot. Once Upon a Time is moving to 8, and Marvel's Inhumans take over 9 from Shark Tank. It's not an expected move, as Inhumans was widely expected to air on Tuesdays, but it's a risk that could pay off. After Inhumans wraps its 8 episode run, Agents of SHIELD will take over the Friday 9pm timeslot for the rest of the season.
