It appears that FOX's hit animated comedy Family Guy has been renewed for another production cycle, which will bring it through the 2017-18 TV season. Here are its ratings so far:
Now, some evidence:
The first notable sign is back in December, producer Kara Vallow posted the cover page of a new script on her Instagram account. Most notably, the production code read "#FACX15". What's notable about this is that the episodes airing this season all have E, not F, as the first letter in their code.
Upon digging deeper, there are more episodes either produced or in production. We have searched through the Web Voyage Copyright database and six codes that start with F, as well as a few that start with E. Apparently there are 20 episodes with production code E, which either means 20 episodes this season or a couple will spill over into next season. Either way, unless somehow all these episodes are already produced and FOX plans on tripling up on Family Guy for the rest of the season, we'll be seeing more of it in 2017-18.
Also, I double checked the press release from last season's renewal, and it clearly stated that the show had been renewed through the 2016-17 TV season, meaning that these episodes didn't get the go-ahead this time last season.
Family Guy now joins Bob's Burgers, The Simpsons, The Mick, Lucifer, Lethal Weapon, Hell's Kitchen, Star, Empire, and the up-and-coming Orville on FOX's 2017-18 schedule.
