Animated Comedy The Great North Renewed by FOX Ahead of Premiere

FOX has renewed The Great North for a second season. The animated comedy has yet to receive a premiere date for its first season, although FOX appears to be high on its chances of success.

With FOX losing ownership of many of their veteran shows as a result of the Disney acquisition of 20th Century Fox, the network has turned to a business model that features more unscripted and animated shows.

The Great North joins long-running veterans The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Bob’s Burgers on FOX’s slate of animated comedies, as well as Bless The Harts and Duncanville. It is likely to premiere in winter or spring of 2021, the same season in which fellow animated comedy Housebroken is scheduled to premiere. An animated comedy created and executive produced by Rick & Morty’s Dan Harmon was ordered to series on June 17.

The Great North takes place in Alaska, with a single dad trying to raise his kids. Loren Bouchard, creator of FOX’s Bob’s Burgers and Apple TV+’s Central Park, is attached as an executive producer.
