Don't Forget The Lyrics!: Despite ratings ranging from weak to just mediocre, I do think Don't Forget The Lyrics will return to Fox's schedule next year. For one thing, it didn't rate much worse than Beat Shazam, which seems like a pretty safe bet to return. It's also likely quite cheap to produce, much like the already-renewed Name That Tune, which didn't rate all that better despite not having to air in the dead of summer. Fox seems to quite like having an array of musical game shows to air, and though this one is far from essential for their scheduled, I'd bet they keep it around. It LEANS RENEWAL.

The Challenge: USA: While I had initially thought this show would be a relatively easy renewal, I'm beginning to reconsider that. Its ratings were far from awful, but didn't really make all that much of a case for a renewal, either. With sub-50% retention from Big Brother, a show it should theoretically be very compatible with, it feels pretty disposable. It's hard to imagine CBS putting something here that would rate all that much worse, and with rumors of casting issues for the series, I think it may be more trouble than it's worth. A renewal would be far from a shock, but I think a cancellation is more likely. It LEANS CANCELLATION.

Password: The revival of the iconic Allen Ludden-hosted game show has turned out to be the surprise summer success story. Though it was given a prime post-AGT time slot, that was certainly no guarantee for success. It has flourished in that slot, with strong retention of AGT and a performance that would even make it an in-season 10 PM success. It's rating well above what every non-AGT NBC summer series has done this season, and NBC would be foolish not to bring the series back. It's a CERTAIN RENEWAL.
