Ratings Analysis: Football expectedly reigned supreme on another Sunday, with NFL Overrun (7.41) on CBS easily leading the way and soaring above last week's CBS game (4.67). 60 Minutes (1.77) premiered its season with an interview of US President Joe Biden and took advantage of its lead-in, rising above its 2021 premiere and rating as by far the top non-sports broadcast of the night. Big Brother (0.94) was also on the rise, hitting a new season high as it nears its season finale. The night ended off on a low note with a repeat of The Equalizer (0.30), but its performance was still nearly double last week's 10 PM NCIS: LA repeat. NBC had a weaker night with Football Night In America (1.32) dropping by nearly a full ratings point and their Sunday Night Football game (5.57) featuring the Bears and Packers over a tenth below last week's Cowboys opener. ABC could not take advantage of the weaker competition, with Celebrity Family Feud (0.47), the midseason premiere of The $100,000 Pyramid (0.35) and what is almost-certainly the series finale of The Final Straw (0.17) all dropping by about a tenth. The repeat of America's Funniest Videos (0.41), however, rose slightly. Fox had no football and, thus, lower ratings, though their animated encores (0.25/0.28/0.31/0.27/0.28/0.30) were, for the most part, stronger than they'd been for much of the summer. The CW also had only repeats, with the 8 PM World's Funniest Animals encore (0.08) rising above last week's as the 8:30 showing (0.05) and the Penn & Teller repeat (0.04) both trailed last week.
Finals Update: NFL Overrun (+2.6), 60 Minutes (+0.2), Big Brother (+0.1), NFL: Bears v. Packers (+1.4) and repeats of The Great North (+0.1) and Family Guy (+0.1)
