Sophomore procedural The Rookie has been renewed for a third season by ABC. The show has been a consistent performer for ABC in the troubled Sunday at 10 PM slot. Though it did well enough in the fall, it saw a noticeable boost when placed behind American Idol and had multiple episodes up year-to-year. Its 0.64 average was just 10% lower than its first season, one of the better trends on ABC this season. Nathan Fillion, long known to ABC audiences for starring in Castle, leads the series alongside Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones and Melissa O'Neil.
