In a surprise to no one, ABC has renewed their top comedy for a third season. The Conners, which began its run as a "spinoff" of the ill-fated Roseanne reboot, has turned out to be one of ABC's strongest scripted programs, being one of only four shows on the network to post a season average north of 1.0. The series is the anchor of ABC's Tuesday night sitcom lineup and is the only show in that lineup to rate above league-average, and is the #1 comedy on all of broadcast TV. The only potential obstacle to renewal for the show was needing to re-sign its cast members, who have one-year deals, for next season. The stars, including John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf and Sara Gilbert, were all able to make deals and secure the renewal.
