What Would You Do?
The Titan Games: Entering with a 0.7 this week, The Titan Games certainly made less noise than it did in its first season. Though 0.7 isn't necessarily bad, especially for Memorial Day, it's not a terribly encouraging start for a show that's probably more expensive for them than an average summer filler program (The Rock can't come cheap). I still think it'll be renewed. With it being in its second season, it's probably going to drop less than a freshman would, especially since it started on a historically tough night. 0.6 isn't much lower than the league average and is decent enough for summer. NBC and Universal also seemingly have a good relationship with Dwayne Johnson (he has a new sitcom coming to the network and stars in the Universal-produced Fast & the Furious film series). If it sinks to 0.4, then I'll have to reconsider, but for now it LEANS RENEWAL.
America's Got Talent: The NBC summer giant returned this week with a big 1.5. That would be enough to make it one of the top-rated shows in-season. With no Bachelorette this year, the field is probably clear for it to take over as the #1 summer show once again. It's obviously coming back, and is a CERTAIN RENEWAL.
World of Dance: Returning to the slot it was always destined to be in, World of Dance nabbed a 1.0 for the start of its fourth season. Season three wasn't terribly impressive for its in-season debut, but it's back on track now and isn't in danger. It's a CERTAIN RENEWAL.
Songland: It wasn't a good week to be Songland. After weeks of 0.6 and 0.7, it dropped to 0.5 behind the Titan Games, even hitting 0.4 in the second half. The Voice is a stronger, more compatible lead-in, so it makes sense for it to be hurt losing that lead-in. I still think NBC will bring it back, considering the state of most of the rest of their reality programs and summer shows. It now LEANS RENEWAL.
What do you think of my predictions? Let me know in the comments and vote in the polls of the week!
