The Johnson family is staying on ABC for at least one more year, as the network has ordered a seventh season of their acclaimed Tuesday night sitcom Black-ish. The show is one of the lower-rated entries in ABC's sitcom lineup, with a 0.59 average for its sixth season (only Friday series American Housewife and the canceled Fresh Off the Boat rate lower among sitcoms). However, it's an important show for ABC, boasting a syndication deal and two spinoffs (Freeform's Growing and its Tuesday lead-in, the freshman Mixed-ish). Kenya Barris created the series, which stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross, who have both been Emmy-nominated for their roles, as well as Jenifer Lewis, Marcus Scribner, Miles Brown, Marsai Martin, Deon Cole, and Peter Mackenzie.
