"The Quick & The Undead"

EXT. ROAD - NIGHT
Frank and Dion are unconscious in the flipped over truck. They are both bloodied and bruised. Zombies are converging on the truck. Frank regains consciousness.
FRANK
Dion? Dion.
Frank sees the zombies coming towards the truck.
FRANK
Dion!
Frank shakes Dion. Dion regains consciousness.
DION
What happened?
FRANK
We need to go!
Dion looks around and sees the situation.
DION
Oh shit.
Frank gets out of the truck. He pulls out his pistol and shoots three zombies. Dion tries getting out of the truck but his seatbelt is stuck.
DION
Frank!
Frank comes over to the passenger side. He shoots more zombies. More zombies appear. Frank pulls out a knife and cuts Dion’s seatbelt. Dion falls to the ground moaning in pain, quickly crawling out of the car. Dion grabs his rifle and shoots some zombies. Frank and Dion run into the woods. The zombies follow them.
Frank and Dion run through the woods turning back every few feet to shoot zombies. They reach a clearing where there is an abandoned house. They enter. They barricade the door and wait. Dion rubs his head.
FRANK
Are you ok?
DION
Yeah. Yeah, it’s just my head.
The zombies approach the house.
FRANK
How much ammo do you have?
DION
Not enough for all of them. If we keep shooting we’ll just attract more.
FRANK
Too late for that, we have no choice.
Frank reloads his gun.
FRANK
Whatever happens, one of us has to get back to Boca or Miami. Understand? On three we go.
Dion nods.
FRANK
Okay. One, Two, Three!
Frank opens the door and Dion exits the house. Frank follows. Both of their guns are raised. They start shooting zombies but there are too many zombies. Frank keeps shooting until his gun clicks. He is out of ammo. He pulls out his knife. Dion runs out of ammo and pulls out his knife. The zombies close in on them.
Motorcycles drive into the clearing. The Riders bear guns and machetes. They mow down the remaining zombies. The Riders surround Frank and Dion. Their knives are still raised. The Riders point their guns at Frank and Dion. The two drop their knives.
DION
I think these are the Riders.
Frank steps forward. He raises his hands.
FRANK
My name is Frank Heston. I’ve come from Miami and Boca Raton. I need to speak to your leader. Please, it’s an emergency.
The Riders say nothing. One of them gets off his bike and approaches Frank. He pistol whips him. Frank is knocked out. Another Rider comes behind Dion and knocks him out with his rifle. The Riders put Frank and Dion on their bikes and ride off.
INT. MIAMI COMMAND CENTER - DAY
The command center is in chaos. People run back and forth. Hendricks and Romero look over a computer screen.
HENDRICKS
How many cities?
ROMERO
Fifteen. There are only three cities including Miami that are left.
HENDRICKS
Shit.
ROMERO
We need to prepare for battle.
HENDRICKS
Yes. Have we heard from Boca Raton?
ROMERO
RJ is helping them prepare defenses and Frank and Dion went out to see if some raider group would join the fight.
HENDRICKS
We may stand a chance.
Ava enters the command center.
HENDRICKS
What are you doing here? Where’s Hank?
AVA
He’s with the Gordons, I thought I could help.
ROMERO
We’re going to expect a lot of wounded.
AVA
I’ll gather all the doctors. Have you heard from Frank?
HENDRICKS
Yeah, he’s fine.
EXT. RIDER CAMP - DAY
Frank and Dion awaken on the ground in the Rider camp. The camp is made up of tents and crucified zombies who are still alive. The Riders are pointing their guns at them. Frank and Dion stand up. A woman in her thirties appears. Her name is VIOLET.
VIOLET
Frank Heston?
FRANK
Yeah.
VIOLET
What’s this emergency?
FRANK
Tell your people to lower their weapons.
VIOLET
Not until you tell me why you’re here.
FRANK
An army of some kind is coming to Miami.
Violet signals to her people. They lower their weapons.
VIOLET
Continue.
FRANK
They’ve already attacked multiple cities. We don’t know why but we do think they’re coming this way. We came here to ask for your help in defending Boca Raton.
Violet contemplates.
VIOLET
There’s something that you need to see.
EXT. WOODS - DAY
Violet leads Frank, Dion, and some Riders through the woods. They reach a clearing. In the clearing, is a massive army with trucks, cars, artillery, and tanks. The Genesis Army.
DION
Holy shit.
VIOLET
They showed up earlier today.
FRANK
There’s no way Boca can survive them. We need to evacuate them to Miami. Do you have a radio?
VIOLET
Yeah.
FRANK
Dion, contact Boca, tell them to go to Miami.
Dion and a Rider head back to the camp.
FRANK
I need to know if you're with us.
VIOLET
My people usually help ourselves. Why should we help you?
FRANK
Because we’re all human. And if we don’t help each other, then we might as well join the dead.
The army sees them and begins going towards them.
Violet contemplates. She motions to a Rider who brings her a bazooka.
FRANK
What are you doing?
VIOLET
Helping.
Violet fires the bazooka hitting one of the tanks and killing dozens of the soldiers. The army sees them.
VIOLET
We should go.
Frank, Violet, and the other Riders race back to camp.
EXT. RIDER CAMP - DAY
Frank, Violet, and the Riders return to camp. Dion approaches Frank.
DION
What the hell was that?
FRANK
Our friend here decided to attack them.
VIOLET
At least they’re down a few men.
DION
Shit, we need to go.
FRANK
Did you contact Boca?
DION
Yeah. They’re evacuating. I couldn’t get to Miami. Something’s jamming the signal.
VIOLET
Most likely the army, with how much tech they have I wouldn’t put it past them.
FRANK
Do you have a car we can borrow?
VIOLET
We got a truck you can take. We’ll provide an escort.
FRANK
So you’re helping us?
VIOLET
As you said, we’re all human.
The sound of the Genesis Army and their vehicles grow louder.
FRANK
Let’s get back to Miami.
