Fox is renewing its veteran medical drama for a fourth season. The Resident, created by Amy Holden Jones, will be returning to Fox after a season of average ratings. Though down 23% and going as low as 0.6 this season, the show was very steady and has shown to be a reliable part of the Fox schedule. Fox has gained a reputation for canceling shows with decent ratings in recent seasons, leaving the future of unowned The Resident in jeopardy, but the show was able to pull through this time. Matt Czuchry, Emily VanCamp, Manish Dayal, Bruce Greenwood and Jane Leeves star in the series.
