FRED, KEVIN, GREGORY, CHRISTINA, and RUTHIE meet in the board room.
FRED
Well, it’s official: the SOKE Bar is a runaway success! We did it guys!
GREGORY
We had to fend off a workers’ strike and the threat of pay raises, but we got it done.
KEVIN
I’m proud of us.
CHRISTINA
Of course, we could’ve had done it without a little bit of help.
FRED
Yeah we probably should give some credit to the factory workers.
CHRISTINA
What? I was gonna say Ruthie. This whole time she hated the SOKE Bar and only went so far as to speak up about it. Didn’t even stop it from happening. Well done, Ruthie.
RUTHIE
Thank you, means a lot.
GREGORY
I’m just surprised we did it without getting rid of our other popular products.
FRED
Yeah, it wasn’t easy but Kevin crunched the numbers and found a way.
KEVIN
As I said, only putting out that one product was an absolutely awful idea. That’s all there was to it.
CHRISTINA
Also…Lorenzo posting nonstop about how much he loved the SOKE Bar didn’t exactly hurt.
FRED
To say the least. Sales went through the roof every time he posted.
GREGORY
We should really do something to thank him.
FRED
We already sent him a thank you card.
GREGORY
Poor guy poured his heart into Lorenzo’s Kitchen and lost it because of us. I can’t believe he’s genuinely endorsing our products.
FRED pauses.
FRED
Yeah I guess he didn’t make out well in this. But hey, we gave him a lifetime supply of our products!
CHRISTINA
I think we could use him, actually. Bring him on as part of SugarCity before someone else gets him. We do have that new SugarCity’s Kitchen opening up in the Primitives’ stadium, after all…
FRED
Let me give him a call.
FRED calls LORENZO.
FRED
Lorenzo!! My friend! Hey so thanks for helping us out with the SOKE Bar. We were all kinda wondering…
RUTHIE
I wasn’t.
FRED
…if you’d like to come back on as a SugarCity employee. I want you to be the manager at our new location. It’ll be at the Primitives’ stadium.
After a pause.
FRED
Lorenzo, you there?
Cut to LORENZO at the other end of the phone.
LORENZO
I’ll have to think about it. I have to see how my season goes in the bullpen first.
LORENZO hangs up.
CUT back to the boardroom.
FRED
It’s a maybe.
RUTHIE
Genuinely do not know, is that good or bad?
KEVIN
We get to keep our jobs either way so…who cares, I guess?
FRED
Good work, everyone.
Everyone gets up to leave.
FRED
Hey, aren’t you gonna tell me I’m a great CEO?!
RUTHIE looks at FRED
RUTHIE
You’re a great CEO. Don’t let it get to your head.
FRED smiles and follows everyone else out of the board room, feeling accomplished.
