Preliminary Analysis: Hosted by 'New Girl' star Zooey Deschanel, 'The Celebrity Dating Game' (0.4) debuted in lackluster fashion on ABC. While a 0.4 rating on its own is respectable for the 10pm timeslot, the series lost 50% of its 'Bachelorette' lead-in (0.8) out the gate. Only time will tell if 'Dating Game' can sustain decent ratings but even a one-tenth drop in week two would place it in bleak territory. 'The Bachlorette' (0.8) itself shed a tenth from its premiere, narrowly fending off Fox's 'Hell's Kitchen: Young Guns' (0.7) for the top spot. 'Young Guns' rose a tenth and hit a new high in the process but animated comedies 'Housebroken' (0.3) and 'Duncanville' (0.2) failed to make any gains in the 9pm hour. NBC's struggling 'Small Fortune' (0.3) picked up a tenth behind 'Olympic Swimming Trials' (0.5). The 'Trials' were a tenth higher than the week-ago 'American Ninja Warrior' original. CBS's encores of 'The Neighborhood' (0.4), 'Bob Hearts Abishola' (0.3), 'NCIS: New Orleans' (0.3), and 'Bull' (0.2) all matched their week-ago showings. The CW's 'All American' (0.3) picked up a few hundredths but the series premiere of new drama 'The Republic of Sarah' (0.1) disappointed on arrival.
Finals Update: The Bachelorette (+0.1), The Celebrity Dating Game (+0.1), and repeats of The Neighborhood (+0.1), Bob Hearts Abishola (+0.1) and Bull (+0.1) adjusted up.
