Apple TV+ Renew/Cancel: First Ever Cancelation Prediction, Discussing Mythic Quest + More

Below is a table of audience demand multipliers as reported by Parrot Analytics for Apple TV+’s original series. A 1.0 multiplier is the average for all shows past and present, and is updated on a rolling 30-day basis. This edition gives an update on the prediction track record so far and discusses predictions for shows yet to be renewed or canceled. The numbers seen in this table are as reported on June 9, 2021. Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet
There is no denying how good Mythic Quest is looking based on the factors reported in the table above. It is one of Apple TV+’s most demanded shows, and is their most-demanded show fully distributed by Apple Inc. It also has decent international appeal. AppleTV+ is yet to officially cancel a series, and I doubt this will be the first.

Amazing Stories
Apple TV+ launched over a year and a half ago, yet there’s still no saying what it would take for them to cancel a series. They’ve renewed their most anemic shows, including those with little international demand that are not even distributed by Apple. Based on that, a renewal for a show with a 5.6 multiplier for the most recent 30 day period, despite not having aired a new episode in over a year, sounds like a no-brainer. However, the very fact that it’s been over a year since it aired with no decision is troublesome. It’s not about to be saved by award nominations based on the mixed-at-best reviews, and having two other distributors alongside Apple will only complicate matters. My guess is if they really wanted to renew it, they would’ve done so by now.

Ghostwriter
Ghostwriter is by no means a breakout hit for Apple TV+, but its audience demand multiplier has held remarkably steady even in the month after Season 2 finished airing. While it’s unknown if Apple distributes the show, it is notable that it is co-produced by Sesame Workshop, an independent production company and distributor of Sesame Street. It’s very likely Sesame Workshop has at least partial distribution rights on Ghostwriter, whose popularity is mostly limited to the United States and Germany. Neither outcome would surprise me for Ghostwriter, but I’m going to predict it’s more likely to be renewed than not for Season 3 based on the solid (but not great) audience demand multiplier.

Little Voice
Little Voice is in a fairly similar situation as Ghostwriter, being on the lower end of Apple TV+’s comedies in audience demand. However, it’s distributed fully by Apple. It’s not a good sign that it hasn’t already been renewed, and I’m willing to downgrade it if a decision is not announced in the near future.

Stillwater
Like with Little Voice, Stillwater has not released a new episode for months and is yet to be renewed or canceled. It is in the same audience demand range of all Apple’s other animated series, and one of the only ones distributed by Apple. Time is running out; I’m predicting renewal for now but it’s in danger of being downgraded.

Prediction Record So Far
Below is a tally of decisions announced by Apple TV+ and predictions made for those shows since this column began. An incorrect prediction gets 0 points, a correct prediction gets 1 point, and correctly predicting a show will be renewed for a pre-announced final season or given a multi-season renewal gets 2 points.
