INT. COLLEGE LIBRARY - DAY
Daniel sits with Joel, Tyler, and Greg in the university library. Joel, Tyler, and Greg are having a conversation. Daniel is staring at Bailey who is sitting and talking with her sorority sisters at another table in the library.
Daniel is looking at Bailey longingly. Bailey sees Daniel and smiles at him.
JOEL
Dan... Dan... Dan!
Daniel focuses back on his friends sitting in front of him.
DANIEL
What?
JOEL
What do you think?
DANIEL
Think about what?
JOEL
Who’s stronger, Captain Marvel or Scarlet Witch?
DANIEL
Huh?
TYLER
Captain Marvel is obviously the strongest.
JOEL
No, Scarlet Witch is. Her name says it all.
TYLER
Captain Marvel almost removed the Infinity Gauntlet off Thanos.
JOEL
Yeah, well Scarlet Witch almost KILLED Thanos.
GREG
Guys, you’re both wrong. VALKYRIE is the strongest Avenger. She’s an Asgardian.
JOEL
Dan. Settle this.
Daniel is still looking at Bailey. Joel looks in the same direction as Daniel and sees that he is looking at Bailey.
JOEL
Dude, when are you going to finally ask her out?
DANIEL
Right now.
Daniel stands up and walks over to Bailey’s table.
DANIEL
Hi.
BAILEY
Um, hello.
DANIEL
Would you want to get dinner sometime? Or see a movie? Or both? Are you free tonight?
BAILEY
Ummmm I’m sorry, what’s your name again?
DANIEL
Daniel.
BAILEY
Well Daniel, I appreciate you asking me, but I have plans tonight. My sorority is throwing a party tonight.
DANIEL
Oh. Well sorry to bother you.
Daniel turns to leave.
BAILEY
If you want, you can come. You can bring your friends. Maybe you and I can… talk.
Daniel and Bailey smile at each other.
DANIEL
Sounds good.
Later…
EXT. SORORITY HOUSE - NIGHT
Daniel, Joel, Tyler, and Greg walk towards the sorority house. Greg is carrying a bottle of liquor and Tyler is holding a fruit basket.
JOEL
Man, this is so cool. You got us invited to a sorority party.
DANIEL
Just don’t embarrass me, okay?
JOEL
Why are you talking to me? I’M not the one who brought FRUIT to the party.
TYLER
Forgive me for wanting to provide a healthier alternative to alcohol and chips.
JOEL
At least Greg had the decency to bring-
Joel looks at the liquor bottle that Greg is holding.
JOEL
Peanut Butter Whiskey? The hell is this?
GREG
What, I like it?
JOEL
Where’s the Jelly flavored one?
GREG
Look here you-
DANIEL
Guys were here. Please don’t embarrass me.
JOEL
Don’t worry buddy, I’ll make sure they behave. You go get the girl.
INT. SORORITY HOUSE - NIGHT
They enter the house. It is packed with partiers. Daniel breaks away from the other three and searches for Bailey.
JOEL
Okay, ground rules. No random useless trivia and… well, that’s it.
Daniel walks among the partiers. From across the room, Bailey sees him. She makes her way towards him and taps his shoulder, and he turns around.
BAILEY
Hey, you made it.
DANIEL
Yeah.
BAILEY
Did you bring your friends?
DANIEL
Yeah. They’re… somewhere.
BAILEY
Cool. You want to go somewhere quiet? We have a balcony. I don't think anyone is up there right now.
DANIEL
Ummm yeah.
Daniel follows Bailey up the stairs.
Meanwhile, Joel, Tyler, and Greg are talking to three sorority girls.
JOEL
So anyway, after I saved the box of puppies, I then helped an old lady cross the crosswalk.
TYLER
Did you know that the first crosswalk was in London?
The ladies stare blankly back at the three guys.
JOEL
Greg, say something cool.
Greg doesn’t say anything. He’s too busy staring at one of the women’s chests.
JOEL
Greg!
GREG
Huh?
The three sorority girls walk away in disgust. Joel turns to face Tyler and Greg.
JOEL
Really guys?
EXT. SORORITY HOUSE BALCONY - NIGHT
Bailey and Daniel stand on the balcony looking up at the stars.
BAILEY
Isn’t it beautiful?
DANIEL
Yeah.
Bailey and Daniel look at each other. They begin to lean in closer. Their lips almost touch. Daniel pixilates for a split second. He stumbles back and rubs his head.
BAILET
What’s wrong?
DANIEL
I-I…
Daniel looks at Bailey and then up at the sky.
DANIEL
This isn’t right.
BAILEY
What?
DANIEL
I never went to this party. I-
Daniel leaves the Balcony.
INT. SORORITY HOUSE - NIGHT
Daniel runs down the stairs and walks over to Joel, Tyler, and Greg.
DANIEL
Guys, guys! Something’s wrong.
Daniel pixilates again.
GREG
What are you talking about? We're at a sorority party.
Daniel steps back from them.
DANIEL
No no no no no.
EXT. SORORITY HOUSE - NIGHT
Daniel runs out of the sorority house. Bailey, Joel, Tyler, Greg, and the partiers slowly follow him out. Daniel stops in the street and clutches his head. Flashes of the green sky, Phoenix Ass, Boss, his friends, and Battle Island flash across his mind
DANIEL
STOP!
Daniel pixelates and then returns to normal. He lowers his hands. He looks around. The other people are not moving. Everything seems to have gone to a standstill.
DANIEL
What?
GARY
Ah man, you’re back. I was hoping to see you wallow in this pathetic fantasy.
Daniel turns around. Standing in front of him is Gary.
DANIEL
Gary?
GARY
Oh, so you know who I am.
DANIEL
You dated Bailey.
GARY
Funny that you put that in the past tense. You see, we never officially broke up.
DANIEL
But I saw you two fighting. Right before the Green Sky happened.
GARY
Yeah, we had a fight. That doesn’t always mean a couple breaks up.
DANIEL
Sooooooo…
GARY
So, you stole my girlfriend! Also, I promised some Adrian guy that I’d kill you and find some antivirus code or something.
DANIEL
You’re working with Adrian.
GARY
I’m not the only one.
Gary opens his hand, and a Scythe materializes in his hand. It glows a faint green.
GARY
Once I kill you, Bailey will know what a real man is.
Gary leaps at Daniel and swings his scythe. Daniel jumps to the side. The scythe plunges into the concrete.
DANIEL
Look, maybe we can talk about this.
GARY
We could.
Gary swings the scythe. Daniel jumps back, trips, and falls to the ground.
GARY
But I’d rather kill you.
Gary raises the scythe above his head and readies it for the killing blow. There is a flash of light and the real Bailey, Joel, Tyler, and Greg appear in front of Daniel and Gary. Without hesitation, Tyler points his staff at Gary and a burst of blue energy shoots from it and hits Gary, sending him back.
Daniel gets up and the friends smile at each other. Once again, they’re reunited.
BAILEY
Gary?
GARY
Hey babe. You’re looking good.
JOEL
Is that your ex.
BAILEY
Yeah.
JOEL
Huh. Programmer, we found him. You know what to do.
A chrome gauntlet materializes on Daniel’s wrist. He looks at it and then at the group confused. The group activates their gauntlets and each of their signature weapons materializes in their hands.
Daniel understands. He extends his hand and a tomahawk materializes in his hand. Another tomahawk materializes in the other. The group raise their weapons towards Gary.
GARY
Okay, let’s not waste each other’s time. All I want is to kill Daniel. If you let me do that, I’ll let you have the piece of the antivirus. Hell, I’ll even tell you what it is.
Gary points his scythe towards the fake Greg who is holding the bottle of Peanut Butter Whiskey.
GREG
Ooh, is that Peanut Butter Whiskey?
Everyone looks at Greg disapprovingly.
GREG
What, it’s good. Maybe try before you deny it.
GARY
So, what do you say?
DANIEL
Look Gary I’m sure you're hurting, and I know you and Bailey never technically broke up but listen to me, we are all fighting for something bigger than ourselves. You and I can discuss this after we complete our mission.
GARY
Or I can just kill you all. Except you Bailey. I’d never hurt you.
Bailey throws her spear, and it lodges itself in Gary’s shoulder.
GARY
OW! Fucking hell! You bitch!
One of Daniel’s tomahawks flies towards Gary and hits him in his other shoulder. Gary cries out in pain.
DANIEL
That’s my girlfriend you're talking about.
Daniel and Bailey reach out their hands and their weapons dislodge themselves from Gary and return to their hands. The couple smiles at each other.
GARY
That settles it. I am going to kill you. ALL of you!
Gary let’s out a war cry and lunges at the group.
BAILEY
Tyler, now!
TYLER
(In Japanese)
Die you Jock!
Tyler slams his staff into the ground and a blue light wave emits from it and disintegrates Gary.
JOEL
So that's our new thing. Just let Tyler do some Wizard shit.
TYLER
You're just mad cause I have the coolest weapon.
JOEL
I have a katana with a gun for a handle.
Tyler and Joel begin arguing with each other. Daniel and Bailey hug each other.
BAILEY
You really need to stop making me worry.
DANIEL
Don’t worry, that’s the last time. I promise.
Greg walks over to the fake Greg and takes the Peanut Butter Whiskey.
GREG
We got three of them. How many more?
THE PROGRAMMER
Two.
DANIEL
Programmer?
THE PROGRAMMER
It’s good to see you all together again.
BAILEY
Any idea where the other two are?
THE PROGRAMMER
Sending the location to you now.
The gauntlets light up.
THE PROGRAMMER
You can jump there when you're ready. I must go. Dobson wants a briefing. Good luck.
The group looks at each other.
DANIEL
You guys look like you’ve been through a lot.
JOEL
You could say that.
DANIEL
Thank you. For having my back.
GREG
Of course, man.
DANIEL
(Sigh)
Okay, we know where the next piece of the antivirus is. Now that we are together again, we have an advantage. Adrian can send as many of his people as he wants. But as long we stay together, we can finish this.
The group nods. They all tap their gauntlets. They take one last look at each other and then disappear in a flash of light.
INT. CAVE - DAY
Diana and Adrian look over a computer screen.
ADRIAN
They have three of the five pieces of the antivirus. Everyone we send at them, fails. Everything we’ve worked for, everything we fought for is slowly crumbling.
DIANA
So, we’ve hit a snag. We can still stop them. After all, we still have HIM.
ADIAN
Are you sure?
DIANA
It’s time for him to finish what he’s started.
Adrian nods and walks over to a makeshift medical pod. He lays down inside it and a technician attaches head pieces to him. The technician presses a button and Adrian loses consciousness.
INT. SOMEWHERE IN THE REFUGIUM
Adrian materializes in a pure white space. In front of him is Boss who is sitting at a table and reading.
BOSS
What now, a software update.
ADRIAN
No, Diana repaired the damage to your programming.
BOSS
You know, I still can’t get over that. That I’m just a bunch of numbers and letters compiled in a certain order.
ADRIAN
You are so much more than that.
BOSS
Oh, that’s right, I’m a means to your end.
ADRIAN
Yes, but you are a part of something much bigger.
Boss stands up and walks over to Adrian
BOSS
I was built to destroy a computer simulation and I was defeated by a bunch of twenty somethings. Is that what you mean by something bigger?
ADRIAN
How would you like to finish your mission and kill those twenty somethings at the same time?
Boss contemplates this proposal and grins.
BOSS
Where do we start?
Adrian grins.
