Hacks Renewed by HBO Max

Jean Smart will get to continue her time as a hack on HBO Max. The streaming service has renewed Smart's comedy series Hacks for a second season today, days ahead of its first-season finale on Thursday. HBO Max has not released viewing figures for the series, but the show has been very acclaimed, garnering strong Emmy buzz for Smart in the comedy actress race, as well as the series itself in the best comedy race. It is HBO Max's most acclaimed series since its launch last year, with a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a score of 83 on Metacritic. Hannah Einbinder and Carl Clemons-Hopkins join Smart in lead roles, alongside recurring stars Kaitlin Olson, Rose Abdoo, Christopher McDonald and Paul W. Downs (who created the series alongside Lucia Aniello and Jen Statsky).
