It shouldn't be surprising that Grey's Anatomy held steady at #1. While there was a slight drop-off in the main demos for its second episode, viewers stayed almost steady (8.06 million for the second episode vs. 8.07 million for the premiere). This means it is likely the people who streamed the episode after the premiere also didn't watch the second episode live.
The other TGIT show included in the top 10 of this week's Binge Watch was How To Get Away with Murder, climbing four spots to #3. The Adult 18-49 Live + Same Day ratings for the second episode took a little hit (0.9 vs. 1.1), meaning there's a chance some people who watched the premiere the day it aired streamed the second episode later than when the first aired.
On the sitcom side of things, Adult Swim's Rick & Morty is up to #4 for its most popular season yet, continuing the trend of niche animated shows gaining popularity that FOX's Bob's Burgers recently started. Also, it shows plenty of people still stream Rick & Morty despite the rise in Same Day viewership. The Big Bang Theory ticked up to #2, possibly including people who missed out on the show's big season premiere. The fact that it averaged slightly under two episodes per viewer shows most people likely streamed the first two episodes of the season and nothing more. It's interesting to see Modern Family at over two episodes per viewer given it's only aired two episodes so far this season. Despite it entering its ninth season, it seems there are still people trying to catch up on past episodes before entering the new season.
Gotham and Lucifer may no longer be airing back-to-back on Monday nights, but they're both still very popular on streaming platforms. This is one thing to take into consideration when predicting renewals or cancelations for them.
Other shows in the top 10 of this week's Binge Report are Game of Thrones (#6), American Horror Story (#7), and Teen Wolf (#8). While American Horror Story and Teen Wolf may not be too surprising, Game of Thrones certainly is. The latest season concluded on August 27, meaning the show is so popular people are still binging it in the masses. This is setting up Season 8 to be the highest-rated season yet.
