Once again, the cycle of death continues within the realm of the television industry. The old and weak succumb to cancellation and from their ashes rise anew, another generation of shows which must endure the challenge of survival. Every new show must fight against every show from a rival network as well as the new freshmen within its own network. With most of the cycle's players now confirmed, Here is my prediction of how the battlefield shall appear in the upcoming cycle:
ABC
Sunday
7;00 Americas Funniest Home Videos
8;00 Once Upon a Time
9:00 Designated Survivior
10;00 Quantico
I felt it fitting that a thriller like Quantico be paired with another thriller like DS. If it works out, I think ABC night finally have a solid Sunday
Monday
8;00 Dancing with the stars
10:00 Conviction
With Castle gone, ABC should replace it with another charactercedural
Tuesday
8:00 Fresh Off the Boat
8:30 Speechless
9;00 Downward dog
9:30 Imaginary Mary
10:00 Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
ABC should have put an existing show in the 10pm slot years ago but now is better than never. Giving the unorthodox comedies their own hour since they won't fit in with the other family sitcoms
Wednesday
8:00 The Middle
8:30 The Goldbergs
9:00 Modern Family
9:30 Blackish
10;00 Notorious
ABC would be foolish to dismantle the only block that is going well for them. The Middle and Goldberg's are doing fine as they are while Blackish wont survive without Modern Family
Thursday
8:00 Grey's anatomy
9:00 The Catch
10:00 How to get away with murder
ABC will want to keep Shonda night around and since Scandal and Still star crossed will most likely be held for midseason, this seems like a good option
Friday
8:00 Last Man Standing
8:30 Dr. Ken
9:00 Shark Tank
10;00 20/20
The multi cams are still doing well on their own. There's no need to meddle with the rest of the day either
CBS
Sunday
8:00 Madame Secretary
9:00 Doubt
10:00 Elementary
I'm not sure if Doubt will be as good as The Good Wife, but I'm sure it will be used to replace it
Monday
8:00 TBBT
8:30 Kevin can wait
(After TNF)
8:00 Man with a plan
8:30 Life in pieces
9:00 Scorpion
10:00 NCIS: LA
Like the last 2 seasons, TBBT can be used to launch a new show and after Thursday night football, they can be moved to Thursday where a new show will take their place.
Tuesday
8:00 NCIS
9:00 NCIS:NO
10:00 Bull
Let this day officially be known as NCIS day
Wednesday
8:00 Survivor
9:00 Criminal Minds
10:00 Code Black
Thursday
8:00 TBBT
8:30 Kevin can wait
9:00 Mom
9:30 The great indoors
Assuming Kevin can wait or The great indoors fails, they can always be replaced by The odd couple
Friday
8:00 The Amazing Race
9:00 Hawaii Five-0
10:00 Blue Bloods
Midseason: MacGyver, Training day, CM:BB, 2 Broke girls, The odd couple
FOX
Sunday
7:30 Bobs Burgers
8:00 The Simpsons
8:30 Son of Zorn
9:00 Family Guy
9:30 Making History
Son of Zorn seems like the perfect show to place at 8:30 since it provides a continuous form of animation for the night. Making history can stay at 9:30 until Last man comes back or if it gets high ratings which could lead to it residing there permanently
Monday
8:00 Gotham
9:00 A.P.B.
What's the best show to place after a procedural?
Answer: Another procedural
Tuesday
8:00 Brooklyn 99
8:30 The Mick
9:00 Scream Queens
Since New girl has already hit syndication numbers, it can be held for midseason. It can be accompanied with Last man or Chad once SQ ends
Wednesday
8:00 Star
9:00 Empire
Star seems very compatible with Empire since they are both music themed
Thursday
8:00 Rosewood
9:00 24:Legacy
With AI gone, FOX has more space to keep their dramas. If I'm right, Rosewood will once again be renewed thanks to having a big lead out
Friday
8:00 Sleepy hollow
9:00 Masterchef junior
Midseason: Chad, Last man on earth, new girl, The exorcist, Shots fired, Prison break pitch, Lethal Weapon
CW
Monday
8:00 Crazy ex girlfriend
9:00 Jane the virgin
CEG needs to stick around if it wants to be eligible for another Golden Globe
Tuesday
8:00 The Flash
9:00 Riverdale
While their genres aren't similar, Riverdale is their biggest new drama so obviously the CW will try to protect it anyway they can
Wednesday
8:00 Arrow
9:00 Supernatural
Thursday
8:00 Supergirl
9:00 Izombie
The 100 and Legends are most likely held for midseason so these 2 can hold their spots until then. Supergirl should be placed on Thursday to keep the Berlanti 8pm flow going
Friday
8:00 TVD
9:00 The originals
They seem to be doing fine on Friday and since Originals is near syndication, the CW can delay these shows until they wrap up their summer comedies
Midseason: Reign, No tomorrow, the 100, Legends, Frequency
ABC
Sunday

9:00 Designated Survivior
