SCOTT, EVAN, HECTOR, and ASHLEY are all sitting in ASHLEY’s apartment. They are deciding whether or not to sell STREAM.
ASHLEY
Alright guys, I’ll start. I did some thinking overnight and…I think we should sell STREAM after all.
SCOTT
But you just said we shouldn’t.
ASHLEY
I was thinking about what Hector said. This could be as big as STREAM gets. In fact, it’s probably gonna be as big as STREAM gets. Why not sell now while we can?
HECTOR
I do have a point!
SCOTT
I don’t know, I really don’t like that the same people who didn’t hire us now want to buy this from us. This is our project, not theirs.
ASHLEY
The people trying to buy this probably don’t even know we ever interviewed. It’s a huge company.
SCOTT
True. Well, maybe we should sell then.
EVAN
What if we’re being ripped off? They’re trying to make a good deal for themselves, they probably think STREAM will be worth way more in the future.
HECTOR
Yeah, because they have the resources to build it up. They’re doing us a favor.
EVAN
But they also want to buy it cheap, and before anyone else can.
ASHLEY
Maybe we go into the meeting and try to get them to up the offer.
SCOTT
What’s the offer standing at right now?
EVAN
60 thousand dollars.
HECTOR
That’s nothing! We need to get it up to at least 10 million.
ASHLEY
10 million’s gonna be a little out there. But 100 thousand I’d be good with.
SCOTT
Not gonna lie, I’m really tempted to subscribe either way. Did you hear about the show they just got the exclusive streaming rights to?
ASHLEY
I’m sure we all heard, it’s the biggest show in history not previously streaming.
HECTOR
Didn’t they lose access to it too?
SCOTT
Not that I know of.
HECTOR
Look it up.
EVAN
Yep. They got the exclusive streaming rights and then hours later, lost them.
SCOTT
Who has them now?
EVAN
I guess nobody.
ASHLEY
Can somebody just say the name of the show already?
ASHLEY gets a phone call.
ASHLEY
Hold on a minute, I gotta answer this.
EVAN
Who’s it from?
ASHLEY
No idea.
ASHLEY steps out and answers the phone. She returns a few minutes later.
ASHLEY
Did the name of the show you guys were talking about happen to be Working As A Family?
HECTOR
Yeah.
ASHLEY
They want STREAM to have exclusive streaming rights for the series.
EVAN
The pilot or the series?
ASHLEY
The entire series.
SCOTT
Is this for real?!
ASHLEY
I think we gotta call off the meeting.
EVAN
Call off? More like blow off. They don’t deserve our time.
SCOTT
I have a better idea. Let’s take the meeting. Everyone follow my lead. Trust me, we won’t sell.
CUT to the meeting. The streamer executives are waiting impatiently for ASHLEY, EVAN, SCOTT, and HECTOR to arrive. They finally enter the meeting room 45 minutes late.
SCOTT
Okay we’ve already decided we’re not selling so let’s make this quick.
EXECUTIVE 1
Wait…what?
SCOTT
Oh just doing what your company did to us when we interviewed there a few months back. Crazy how things work sometimes, right?
ASHLEY, EVAN, SCOTT, and HECTOR all exit the meeting, leaving all executives speechless.
EVAN
Well everyone, we did to them what they did to us. Nicely done, Scott.
SCOTT
It had to be done. We proved to ourselves what we couldn’t prove to them: our worth working for a streamer. Even if it meant starting up our own.
