Hello folks! Welcome to the first Jess’s Take of the 2017-18 season. Premiere week is out of the way, and I have plenty to say about shows’ premiere ratings.
10 Days in the Valley: A Likely Casualty
International production 10 Days in the Valley, starring Kyra Sedgwick, is already leading the pack in the first show to be canceled list. It premiered to a 0.6 A18-49 rating in the prelims, and not much promotion. The premiere adjusted down to a 0.5. Place your bets, folks. This has the upcoming certain to be canceled prediction written all over it.
The General State of ABC Drama
Not much needs to be said on the low rated state of ABC’s drama department. Sure they have The Good Doctor and Grey’s Anatomy, but TGIT is a sinking ship and Designated Survivor is not doing anything but wasting a lead in. In addition, 10 Days flopped right out of the gate. This summer's dramas Still Star Crossed and Somewhere Between were at CW levels.
If there is anything needed that is left to be said about ABC, I think the network needs to get it together. But I don't think American Idol is a long term solution to this crisis.
This has been the first installment of Jess's Take. I'll have more installments for each network as soon as more information is available.
