Below are the February 9th renew/cancel predictions for the Fox network in the 2024-25 television season. The numbers listed in the table mark the Nielsen rating low, average, and high for each respective program in the Adults 18-49 demographic. The "Y2Y (year-to-year) Change" column denotes how much the series has grown or declined when compared to its average from the previous season.
Animal Control: Though it has always been a struggling performer, Animal Control has gotten even weaker in recent weeks. The latest episode of the Joel McHale sitcom posted a feeble 0.15 rating in the Adults 18-49 demographic, a new series low for the comedy. It retained just half of its Hell's Kitchen lead-in (0.30) in this showing, even though it managed a 0.21 with a smaller lead-in (0.26) on season premiere night. Though it is alleged that the series is a solid player on streaming, it is clearly not doing well in the key demo. Last year, Fox handed the series a third-season pickup before its second season even started. This year, a renewal has yet to materialize. All this is to say that Animal Control may not be as safe as previously assumed. It remains in the green, but it is now downgraded from "Certain Renewal" to "Likely Renewal".
Going Dutch: There was a brief glimmer of hope for Going Dutch when it built on its Animal Control lead-in and jumped to a new high (0.20) on the 23rd, but that momentum completely evaporated when it crashed to a 0.12 on the 30th. Its live ratings are low, and it continues to perform poorly on streaming, so it remains Likely to be Canceled.
Doc: New drama Doc has seemingly stabilized, staying put in the 0.21-0.23 range for the past few weeks. This is certainly better than the 0.19 it garnered on premiere night, but its retention of Kitchen Nightmares is relatively poor. Nonetheless, Doc is still Likely to be Renewed. Its strong presence on streaming makes up for any shortcomings in the Nielsen ratings department.
9-1-1: Lone Star: 9-1-1: Lone Star recently soared to a new season high (0.34) for its series finale. It has been a sluggish season for Lone Star, but a 0.34 is almost unheard of for a Fox drama in 2025. It was ultimately a strong finish for the veteran spinoff, and Fox will surely miss its reliable performance.
Rescue: HI-Surf: Off of live ratings alone, a case for renewal could be made for Rescue: HI-Surf. Its latest episode (0.20) was only a hundredth below Doc's in the key demo. But Fox yanking it out of the post-Super Bowl slot is enough to signify that they no longer want to nurture it. On top of that, there's no telling how it'll do with Extracted as its lead-in. Chances are it will sink without Lone Star holding down the 8 p.m. time slot. It remains Likely to be Canceled.
