The Company You Keep: It's been over a month since I've discussed The Company You Keep, and its ratings have been more or less stable since then. Last week was a notably weak showing for it, hitting a 0.20 - a series low. It does have the excuse that it was Easter, and American Idol was down as well, but it's an undeniably awful showing either way. Its retention of Idol is truly pitiful, hovering between 35-40% most weeks, and it rates higher than just two other shows - Alaska Daily and the already-ending A Million Little Things. I see very little reason for ABC to renew a show that has shown such little promise, and one that has such weak ratings. There is nothing more that they can actually do for it, considering that it has the strongest lead-in they can offer it and gave it a heavy promotional push when the show launched. They probably can't cancel all of their weak shows, but this particular one has very little going for it, and it remains a LIKELY CANCELLATION.

The Rookie: On a more positive note, The Rookie was granted a much-deserved sixth season today. Its growth this season has been phenomenal to witness, as it is extremely rare to see such a middling same-day linear ratings performer transform into such a solid performer basically overnight. The move to 8 PM did wonders for it, and saw an upgrade to a certain renewal prediction, a category it remained in up to the renewal.
