The Rookie Renewed by ABC

The Rookie will be back in action next season. ABC has ordered a sixth season of the Nathan Fillion police procedural, following a season of impressive growth. The show launched a spinoff, The Rookie: Feds, earlier this season, joining together with that show at midseason on Tuesday nights. Its new Tuesday night berth saw a ratings surge, jumping up to a 0.6 in its Tuesday premiere after having dipped below a 0.30 on Sundays in the fall. Though it settled lower than that, it remains a top performer for ABC, with a 24% year-to-year jump to 0.43 average this season that has only grown in the second half of the season. It ranks as ABC's #5 scripted show this season, only behind comedies The Conners and Abbott Elementary and fellow dramas Station 19 and Grey's Anatomy. The pickup is just the third issued by ABC this season, following the aforementioned Abbott Elementary and Grey's Anatomy. This is a correct prediction for The TV Ratings Guide.
