FRED, KEVIN, GREGORY, CHRISTINA, and RUTHIE reconvene in SugarCity’s corporate office’s executive boardroom.
FRED
Thanks everyone for coming. As CEO of SugarCity, it is of my upmost priority to keep our company thriving.
KEVIN
And as CFO of SugarCity, I will remind you that our company most certainly is not thriving.
CHRISTINA
Yeah, sales of the AGRUS Bar are plateauing no matter what I try to do to market it.
GREGORY
Have you tried marketing it to chocolate enthusiasts?
CHRISTINA
We’ve been doing that this whole time genius, that’s our base!
FRED
Okay everyone. So as you know, we’re entering a tough time in the calendar. Last Christmas and Valentine’s Day are long gone and the next ones are still several months away. We had a solid sales bump for Easter but that’s over now, and barely makes up for all the people who give up candy for 40 days before Easter for some reason I’ll never understand. Now, it’s the worst season of all: diet season. People desperately trying to lose weight for summer. No candy-related holidays in sight until Halloween. All we can bank on from now until then are summer birthdays. We need ideas.
GREGORY
I got it! Diet AGRUS.
FRED
Diet AGRUS?
GREGORY
Yeah. It’s the AGRUS Bar, but with zero calories.
FRED
I like it! But unfortunately, we don’t have access to the chemicals needed to make diet chocolate.
CHRISTINA
How about chocolate, but with milk that doesn’t come from cows?
RUTHIE
Yes, because everyone wants strawberry milk chocolate.
CHRISTINA
You do realize that’s just a flavor of milk made for kids, right? You can’t actually milk a strawberry.
KEVIN
You can’t?
CHRISTINA
You can milk an oat though!
RUTHIE
We are NOT doing oat milk chocolate.
CHRISTINA
Just an idea.
KEVIN
Yeah, we’re not doing that. We don’t have any oats in our factory and it would be way too expensive to start now on something that might fail.
FRED
Come on guys, we need an idea that can help SugarCity not completely implode over the summer.
RUTHIE
Well if you’re so concerned about sales over the summer, why don’t we make a candy bar marketed for summer?
After a pause:
CHRISTINA
You know that’s not such a terrible idea. It’s very easy to market things with a summer spin.
KEVIN
What about a bar that makes you feel hydrated? Something water-y.
RUTHIE
I like it. We can call it the SOKE Bar. S-o-k-e. It’s fun to spell things wrong.
FRED
So just…chocolate but with water?
RUTHIE
Pretty much.
KEVIN
Keeps costs down too, you use less cocoa.
FRED
That’s what I like to hear! Let’s do it.
GREGORY
I’ll tell the factory workers!
FRED
Good job everyone. If we do this right, the SOKE Bar is going to be the chocolate bar of the summer from here on out. Meeting convened.
CHRISTINA
You mean adjourned?
FRED
Um…yeah, I guess.
