EXT. APARTMENT BUILDING - DAY
An apartment complex sits on the left side of the urban neighborhood.
INT. APARTMENT LIVING ROOM - DAY
Jack is pacing back and forth near the couch.
Noah is sitting with a laptop computer on his lap. He is typing away.
Jack scratches his head.
JACK
What are we going to do?
Noah pauses, then looks up at Jack. He gives Jack a confused look and then returns to typing.
JACK (CONT’D)
Are you going to say something or not?
Noah grumbles.
NOAH
(groggily)
What do you want from me?
JACK
I don’t know. Maybe some more input on how to go about pitching this pilot.
Noah gasps. He stops typing, puts the computer down on the coffee table, and turns to look at Jack.
NOAH
Did you just say “pitching”? I don’t even know how to throw a baseball.
Jack then sighs.
JACK
Not baseball, you f idiot! A presentation on what the show is all about plus subplots.
NOAH
Oh.
JACK
I can’t believe this.
Jack then paces back and forth. Fury rises from his clenched fists. He breathes quickly.
Meanwhile, Noah picks up the laptop and returns to his typing.
Jack unclenches his fists. He then takes a stack of papers and proceeds to rip into them.
Noah then looks up at Jack.
NOAH
Stop that. What are you doing?
JACK
You think this show is s*, don’t you?
NOAH
That’s not what I’m saying. Look, I’ll show you.
Noah shoves the open laptop onto Jack’s shaking hands.
Jack composes himself as he reads through the screen.
His eyes widen, as if the Surprise Symphony has arrived.
Noah shrugs his shoulders and his eyebrows raise up and down. He then tries to take the laptop.
JACK
That’s the synopsis we’re looking for!
NOAH
(groggily)
What do you mean?
Jack motions Noah closer.
JACK
We got the right amount of crass and the right amount of funny in this synopsis.
Jack then takes a deep breath as he walks over to the couch.
Jack then sits, placing the laptop on the coffee table.
He looks intently at Noah, who paces back and forth.
JACK (CONT’D)
Now if we can just come up with the perfect 25-30 minute script to fit the workings of the synopsis, then we are golden!
Noah then shrugs his head.
His eyes now widen, as if a lightbulb flashed near the vicinity.
NOAH
Wait a minute, isn’t it supposed to be an elevator pitch?
Noah walks towards Jack and sits next to him. then points at the screen of the computer.
Jack’s eyes widen.
NOAH (CONT’D)
This is about three pages. Nobody reads three pages to network executives in one minute. That would take at least three minutes.
Jack turns to Noah.
JACK
Then what would be the main plot for this project?
NOAH
I could look that up for you right now, but we don’t have time. We gotta go to work.
Jack then looks at Noah as if a robbery has occurred.
JACK
Work?
Noah then gets up and walks away.
Jack then shrugs, speechless.
