FADE IN:
EXT. MANHATTAN SKYLINE - DAY
An urban area is situated in Staten Island in the middle of New York City.
EXT. NETWORK HEADQUARTERS - DAY
The network’s headquarters sits in the heart of downtown Manhattan.
INT. LEAH’S OFFICE - DAY
Leah sits at her desk.
Her hands are folded together, as if she is in a praying position.
Leah’s office door opens.
Kasey walks into the office and shuts the door.
KASEY
(groggily)
Another day at the office.
Leah looks up at Kasey. She then stands up.
LEAH
Tell me about it.
While clenching her now seven months pregnant baby bump, Kasey walks to a seat.
Leah takes a stack of papers from her desk.
KASEY
This has been incredibly hard.
LEAH
You’re glowing, at least.
Kasey looks down at her belly.
KASEY
(chuckles)
This little guy just had a breakfast of champions.
Leah’s eyes widen.
LEAH
A boy?
Kasey flashes a beaming smile.
KASEY
A boy. Jesse and I kept this under wraps for a while.
Leah then looks down on her desk as she sets the stack of papers on top.
Leah sighs.
KASEY (CONT'D)
We were just waiting for the right moment to tell everybody.
Leah nods.
The phone rings.
Leah picks up the phone.
LEAH
(on phone)
Alright, I’ll tell her.
She fiddles around with the phone cord as she hangs up the phone.
Leah then faces Kasey.
LEAH (CONT'D)
We have to go. Conference call in ten minutes.
Kasey’s eyes widen.
KASEY
What for?
Leah then gets up. She motions Kasey towards the door.
Kasey opens the door.
She exits the office.
Leah grabs her stack of papers and proceeds to walk towards the door.
She leaves the office.
The office door closes.
INT. BUSINESS HALLWAY - DAY
Leah and Kasey walk.
Jesse, in a quick manner, walks with a stack of papers on his left arm.
Charlie follows close behind with a briefcase.
Matt walks with a notepad and pen in hand.
They turn the corner to the conference room.
INT. CONFERENCE ROOM - FIVE MINUTES LATER
Everyone sits on opposite sides of the room: Jesse, Kasey, and Charlie on the left, Ash, Leah, and Matt on the right.
Charlie’s briefcase is on top of the table. It is open.
Charlie unloads her opened briefcase to reveal stacks of reports. She sighs with nervous anticipation.
Kasey takes a deep breath, then turns to look at Jesse.
Ash sets his arms on the conference table. He sighs.
Jesse closes his eyes and shakes his head in a deeply confused state.
Leah crosses her arms and turns towards Jesse’s direction, her eyebrows raised to reveal a stink-eye expression.
Matt sets his pen and notepad on the table.
Ash turns towards Jesse.
ASH
Jesse, do you have an update on pilots yet?
Jesse nods and looks at Ash.
JESSE
I do. It looks like the untitled project of Mike’s is not going forward. Tested well, but it did not meet critical standards.
LEAH
Way to lay out the honesty, Jesse.
Leah chuckles.
LEAH (CONT'D)
For once, you’re making smart decisions.
Jesse frowns.
Ash’s eyebrows lower.
ASH
(sternly)
Enough, Leah.
Ash turns to Jesse as he shuffles a stack of papers in front of him.
ASH (CONT'D)
Jesse, you may continue.
Jesse nods. He composes himself as he shrugs his shoulders.
He takes a deep breath.
JESSE
On the agenda, we are looking forward to the summer panels of The Bullpen, Whoa Folks, I Have Another Dream, and the returning shows.
Charlie fiddles with her hair.
Kasey takes a deep breath as her hands rest on her belly.
Matt furiously writes on his notepad.
Leah composes herself as she intently looks at Jesse.
JESSE (CONT'D)
If we can get the logistics together, that would be swell.
Kasey looks at Ash.
KASEY
What questions should we expect for these panels?
Charlie looks at Kasey intently.
CHARLIE
The critics are going to ask the actors and the producers what the show is about.
Charlie smiles.
CHARLIE (CONT'D)
They also ask about shooting logistics, potential storylines, and the marketing campaigns.
Kasey nods.
The meeting drags on.
