ABC has renewed Single Parents for a second season. The show's newfound network ownership thanks to Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox likely helped it score a renewal. Single Parents was far from a strong performer for ABC throughout its first season, but with a 0.86 average was a slightly higher performer than fellow new ABC comedy The Kids Are Alright. Leighton Meester, Taran Killam, Brad Garrett, Jake Choi and Kimrie Lewis star in the series as a group of friends who all happen to be single parents; it was created by JJ Philbin and New Girl creator Liz Meriwether.
