ABC has renewed Friday night sitcom Fresh Off the Boat for a sixth season. Despite a weak start in early October, the show turned out to be a decent player for ABC on a night that usually sees lower ratings across the board. The show also became owned but the network this season due to 20th Century Fox's acquisition by Disney earlier this year, which likely helped get the show across the line this time. The show, based on the memoir of the same name by chef Eddie Huang, stars Constance Wu, Randall Park, Hudson Yang, Ian Chen and Forrest Wheeler as two Taiwanese immigrants and their three children. The series averaged a 0.61 this season, a 41% decline from last season, but an improvement on last season's time slot occupant, Once Upon a Time. This was a correct prediction for The TV Ratings Guide.
