New Show Hit/Miss Fall 2016 - Timeless

This feature examines which factors may affect a show's ratings. Any show can do well or do poorly, it's difficult to know before the premiere. Now, I will list the factors that might cause Timeless to succeed or to fail. (Also, if you haven't already, check out the articles for fellow NBC shows The Good Place and This is Us.)

What May Cause Timeless to be a Hit?

Airing after The Voice
What show gets the biggest lead-in NBC has to offer? Timeless! From Smash to Blindspot, shows that air after The Voice on Mondays have successful first seasons, the only exception being State of Affairs, if you consider it a post-Voice show, it aired five episodes after The Voice.

Olympics promotion
As Luke brought up in the comments of the last article, NBC only has three new fall shows, which means that each will likely get a lot of promotion during the Olympics.

What May Cause Timeless to be a Miss for NBC?

Not a police show/procedural of any sort
Let's look at what dramas NBC renewed. There's the Dick Wolf shows, The Blacklist and Blindspot, which I believe are mostly procedurals, Shades of Blue, a show about the police, and Grimm, the odd one out that's likely nearing its end.

People weren't crazy about the trailer
From the trailer-watching article, it is easily noticeable that the like/dislike ratio for Timeless is by far the lowest for any of the new NBC shows, and it's on the lower end of all of the shows. It's 74 puts it higher than only MacGyver, Lethal Weapon, and The Great Indoors, and even with American Housewife.

What to Expect for Timeless?

I think that the biggest factors will be the post-Voice airing and the trailer reception. I think it will do well enough to earn a renewal, but not as well as past post-Voice on Monday shows.

Which factors do you think will be most in play in causing Timeless to be a hit or a miss? Leave your thoughts in the comments!
