Who Do You Think You Are?

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire: Last season, the revival of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire was a big success for ABC. It averaged a 0.81 for the network, hitting 0.9s even into early summer. However, season two has been a massive disappointment. Perhaps season one was so fueled by the early COVID boost that it was always destined to crash, or perhaps it's just not a concept people remained interested in for an extended period of time, but no matter the reason, the drop this year has been drastic. It's averaged just 0.48 in the demo, dropping massively even from its 0.64 premiere. Last night, it drew only a 0.3 in the demo. Even as ratings decline this season, I find it hard to believe that ABC can bring back a show that's gone that low, knowing it will likely perform at that level again. It may rebound in early 2021, so I won't downgrade it too much, but I can no longer predict a renewal for it. It LEANS CANCELLATION.

The Great Christmas Light Fight: After airing on Monday for many seasons, Light Fight moved to Wednesdays to bridge for ABC's comedies for the month of December. With that move, it no longer had to deal with heavy NFL preemptions on a regular basis. That helped it return with one of its strongest ratings in years, tying the 2019 premiere (and growing from its 2019 finale), despite sharp drops in the ratings for most shows across the board. The only thing that could put it in any danger after such a solid return is the COVID-19 pandemic. Light Fight is a show that films far in advance, with its episodes filming a year prior to airing (coinciding with the previous year's Christmas season). This has led to it receiving early renewals, since it needed advanced notice to begin filming. This year, thanks to COVID, it doesn't seem like filming will be possible in order to get on the air next season. I think they'll be able to figure something out to get it on the air anyway, as it's done well, but there's always a chance things can go sideways. It's a LIKELY RENEWAL.

The Masked Singer, Penn & Teller: Fool Us and World's Funniest Animals: Since our last update, all three of these shows received renewals. Obviously they're not on an equal level ratings-wise, but all three were pretty obvious renewals and are correct predictions.
