Below are the January 11th renew/cancel predictions for the Fox network in the 2024-25 television season. The numbers listed in the table mark the Nielsen rating low, average, and high for each respective program in the Adults 18-49 demographic. The "Y2Y (year-to-year) Change" column denotes how much the series has grown or declined when compared to its average from the previous season.
Going Dutch: On January 2nd, Going Dutch posted a tepid 0.19 rating for its series premiere. In its second week, the series dropped to a meager 0.15 in the Adults 18-49 demographic, a decline worse than its Animal Control lead-in. Since Dutch is one of only two live-action sitcoms on Fox, the network may want to keep it around to build up a comedy roster. However, it has already left a poor impression with these abysmal Nielsen ratings, and it's only downhill from here once CBS and NBC return to airing originals. Fox is lenient when it comes to renewing struggling performers, but they can do better than this. If Fox needs something to pair with Animal Control, they can order a new sitcom next season or bring one of their benched cartoons back on the field. For now, Dutch does not appear to be a viable player. As a result, it is Likely to be Canceled.
Doc: In its debut, Doc came onto the scene with the same 0.19 rating that Dutch posted. In theory, it should be on the wrong side of the bubble, but Fox usually gives their new dramas some time to build an audience. Doc has yet to fall as low as Dutch and was only a hundredth below the time slot premiere of Rescue: HI-Surf, a series that had ample NFL help in its debut. For those reasons, Doc begins as a Likely Renewal, albeit a shaky one.
Animal Control: Animal Control began its third season with a 0.21 in the Adults 18-49 demographic, matching the rating it posted for its season two premiere. In week two, the comedy dipped to a 0.18 while its Hell's Kitchen lead-in grew in size. Though its latest performance leaves much to be desired, this comedy still enters the chart as a Certain Renewal. Fox was perfectly content with keeping Animal Control around in 2024, even as it went as low as a 0.17 with a Masked Singer lead-in. So far, its numbers have stayed in the same ballpark as last year despite a reduced lead-in, so it should have no problem securing a fourth season pickup.
The Great North: Season five of The Great North debuted in an odd way. Fox quietly placed the premiere in between a pair of reruns in late December. Because of this, the long-running animated comedy returned with a feeble 0.16 rating. But, despite its Nielsen woes, The Great North is Likely to be Renewed. Fox is committed to maintaining a strong animation presence, and North does no worse than the toons that have already been renewed. This is the first Fox cartoon since Bob's Burgers to make it to five seasons, so the network clearly wants to build up its stockpile for a potential syndication deal. Expect the Tobin family to stick around for a little while longer.
