Below are the January 18th renew/cancel predictions for the Fox network in the 2024-25 television season. The numbers listed in the table mark the Nielsen rating low, average, and high for each respective program in the Adults 18-49 demographic. The "Y2Y (year-to-year) Change" column denotes how much the series has grown or declined when compared to its average from the previous season.
Doc: After debuting with a discouraging 0.19 rating in the Adults 18-49 demographic, new medical drama Doc soared to a 0.25 in episode two. It is uncommon for dramas to build on their premiere ratings, much less rise by over 30% in the key demo. In fact, Doc went from losing to the CW on January 7th to beating its NBC time slot competitor on the 14th. This 0.25 may not seem like much, but it outpaces every regularly-scheduled episode of Rescue: HI-Surf that aired in fall 2024. It also beats every installment of Accused season two and Murder in a Small Town. In 2025, Fox will gladly take a rating like this, especially from a scripted series. Doc remains Likely to be Renewed and has only strengthened its chances with this ratings spike.
Going Dutch: In its third week, Going Dutch rose back up to the 0.19 rating that it posted on premiere night. Though this is definitely better than the dreadful 0.15 it managed for the January 9th episode, more data is needed to see if it can maintain this momentum. It is currently unclear if it can hold up against harsher competition, so it will not receive an upgrade just yet. There is also minimal interest in the series on streaming, with Dutch charting well below Doc and Animal Control on Hulu. While it might end up in the green at some point, the series is still Likely to be Canceled.
Murder in a Small Town: Fox recently Renewed Murder in a Small Town for a second season. This serves as a correct prediction for The TV Ratings Guide. Though its Nielsen ratings were never the best, Murder was helped out by the fact that it is a Canadian co-production. That lowered the cost for Fox and sweetened the deal.
