Sunday TV Ratings 12/22/24: Kennedy Center Honors Drop Despite NFL Lead-In, The Great North Weak in One-Off Airing, Dune: Prophecy Rises for Finale [+ Analysis]

Ratings Analysis: Despite having an NFL-inflated 60 Minutes (0.97, -0.08) as its lead-in, the Kennedy Center Honors (0.29) declined from last year (0.32). The ceremony was a complete eyesore in the retention department, holding just under 30% of the CBS newsmagazine staple. Over on Fox, The Simpsons (0.26, -0.14) dropped but avoided hitting a new season low. At 9, The Great North (0.16) underwhelmed in a one-off showing, falling behind a repeat of Basic Guys (0.17). On ABC, Tim Allen film The Santa Clause (0.28) performed well enough. NBC's NFL game (4.07) was a few ticks behind last week's. The CW aired Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas (0.03) and a very low-rated rerun of Bob Hearts Abishola (0.01). Key: (R) = repeat.
