Andrew,
Edison, and Sarah walk up stadium stairs. The stadium is crowded with people
talking and cheering. The trio sit down.
SARAH
I’m surprised
y’all agreed to come to the game.
ANDREW
Why?
SARAH
Honestly, you
two don’t strike me as sports guys.
EDISON
Excuse me? I
love sports.
SARAH
My bad.
EDISON
Alrighty. So
where’s home base?
Andrew and
Sarah look at Edison.
ANDREW
What?
EDISON
The bases? You
know? First base, second base, third base?
SARAH
Edison, what
game do you think we’re at?
EDISON
Football.
ANDREW
Edison that’s
not football. You’re talking about baseball.
EDISON
Are you sure?
ANDREW
Oh my gosh.
SARAH
Brittaney!
Over here.
Sarah stands
up and waves at Brittaney who comes and sits with them. She is with her
boyfriend PAUL.
BRITTANEY
Hey guys this
is my boyfriend, Paul.
PAUL
Hey guys!
ANDREW & SARAH
Hey.
EDISON
Hey… Paul.
ANDREW
You like
football Paul?
PAUL
Oh yeah. Love
the game.
EDISON
Fun fact,
there are no bases in football. That’s in baseball. Two different sports.
The others
stare at Edison.
EDISON
Look. The
players are coming out.
The football
players run onto the field and the game begins. Both teams score touchdowns and
people cheer.
SARAH
I’m gonna go
get a drink. Anyone wanna come?
ANDREW
I’ll go.
Andrew and
Sarah leave.
BRITTANEY
Hey I’m
actually gonna go get something to eat. Babe you want something?
PAUL
Nah I’m good
babe.
BRITTANEY
Ok. I’ll be
right back.
Brittaney
kisses Paul and leaves. Edison and Paul are alone.
EDISON
So Paul…
What’s your major?
PAUL
Engineering.
You?
EDISON
Business.
PAUL
Cool.
Paul’s phone
rings and he looks at it.
PAUL
Hey a friend
of mine is actually at the game. I’m gonna go say hi. Will you tell Britt I’ll
be right back.
EDISON
Sure.
Paul leaves.
Edison sits alone. He looks to his side where a LITTLE BOY sits with his parents.
The little boy is staring at Edison.
LITTLE BOY
All your
friends left you.
Edison gets up
and leaves to go look for Andrew and Sarah.
Cut to Andrew
and Sarah waiting in line for a drink.
SARAH
So Andrew… do
you have a girlfriend?
ANDREW
W-why do you
ask?
SARAH
Just curious.
ANDREW
Well to answer
your question, no I don’t.
SARAH
Did you have
one in high school?
ANDREW
Yeah.
SARAH
How was it?
ANDREW
Well, she was
nice in the beginning. Actually she was nice the entire time. It was when I broke
up with her that things turned ugly.
SARAH
Oh damn.
ANDREW
Yeah. I didn't
want to do long distance. She was going out of state. She said that love could
triumph miles apart.
SARAH
Hmm.
SARAH
Anyone on your
radar who you might ask out?
ANDREW
{Playing it cool}
Uhhhhhhhh no…
no one comes to mind.
SARAH
Too bad. Any
girl would be lucky to have you.
Cut to Edison
walking around the stadium looking for his friends. He turns a corner and sees
Paul making out with a girl who is not Brittaney. He hides behind the corner.
He fast walks away.
Cut to Andrew
and Sarah in the line.
ANDREW
Sarah,...
would you uh want to maybe-
Edison runs up
to them.
EDISON
Guys… hold on.
Edison kneels
and catches his breath. The little boy from before appears near him.
LITTLE BOY
You should
really work out more.
EDISON
Where’re your
parents?
The little boy
walks away. Edison stands up.
EDISON
You are not
gonna believe what I just saw.
ANDREW
What?
EDISON
{Smiling}
I saw Paul
sucking face with some other girl.
SARAH
Why are you
smiling?
EDISON
Because… that
means that they will break up.
SARAH
What?!
EDISON
Andrew, you
said that when they broke up I could ask her out.
SARAH
{To Andrew}
You said what?
ANDREW
I-I did say
that.
SARAH
Both of you
are pathetic. Does Brittaney know?
EDISON
I was gonna go
tell her.
SARAH
Absolutely
not. I’m going to tell her.
Sarah walks
off.
ANDREW
Really man?
EDISON
What?
Cut to
Brittaney and Paul arguing. Sarah stands behind her. Brittaney slaps Paul and
the two girls leave.
INT. ANDREW
& EDISON’S DORM - NIGHT
Andrew and
Edison lie in their beds.
EDISON
How long do
you think I should wait to ask Brittaney out?
ANDREW
Seriously
dude. Is that all you can think about? Brittaney just got her heart broken.
EDISON
Sheesh. What’s
up with you?
ANDREW
Besides the
fact that you’re acting like a complete dick?
EDISON
Yes.
ANDREW
I was about to
ask Sarah out, but then you just had to show up.
EDISON
You know what
dude. You need to just grow a pair and ask her out. What’s the worst that could
happen? She says no. If that happens then you move on.
Edison sits
up.
EDISON
Any girl would
be lucky to have you Andrew, you’re just too scared to even try. That’s the
bottom line.
Andrew stares
at Edison. He gets up and leaves. He runs to Sarah’s dorm.
INT. DORM
HALLWAY - NIGHT
ANDREW
{To himself}
Sarah I like
you and I was wondering if you would want to get dinner or coffee. Yeah that
sound good.
Andrew knocks
on the door. A frat looking guy answers. His name is CALVIN.
ANDREW
You’re not
Sarah.
CALVIN
Sarah it’s for
you.
Sarah come to
the door. Calvin goes back inside.
SARAH
What’s up?
ANDREW
Uhhhh I was
just curious on how Brittaney was holding up.
SARAH
She’s doing
fine. She and I are gonna get coffee tomorrow and talk about it.
ANDREW
That’s good.
We’ll I should get going. You’re clearly busy with a group project.
SARAH
Group project?
Oh you mean Calvin. No he’s my boyfriend.
ANDREW
Boyfriend? You
never mentioned you had a boyfriend. Or that his name was Calvin.
SARAH
We’ve only
been dating for a few weeks. We met in math. He’s in Sigma Alpha.
ANDREW
Cool. Cool
cool cool. We’ll he seems like a good guy.
SARAH
Yes he is.
ANDREW
Well uh goodnight.
SARAH
Goodnight.
Andrew walks
sadly back to his dorm. He opens the door and enters. Edison and Brittaney are
making out on Edison’s bed.
INT. ANDREW
& EDISON’S DORM - NIGHT
ANDREW
What the
hell?!
Edison and
Brittaney pull apart surprised.
EDISON
Oh hey bud.
Where’d you go?
Andrew doesn’t
answer and gestures at Edison and Brittaney.
EDISON
I know what
this looks like and it’s exactly what you think it is.
