TV Ratings Tuesday, September 20: UPDATED with Final Ratings: NCIS, Brooklyn Nine-Nine Adjust Up


Finals: NCIS and Brooklyn Nine-Nine both adjusted up a single tenth, to 2.2 and 1.1 respectively. This means that Bull was even with its lead-in. The table now reflects the final ratings, while the analysis is unchanged and refers to the preliminary ratings.

On NBC, The Voice's first Tuesday episode scored a 3.4, slightly up from its Monday episode of 3.3 and slightly down from last fall's Tuesday premiere, which got a 3.5. Following The Voice, This is Us premiered to a 2.8, up from Chicago Med's premiere of 2.2, though Chicago Med premiered at 9:00 in November.

On CBS, NCIS returned to a 2.1, down from last season's finale's 2.6 and down from last season's premiere at 2.5. The series premiere of Bull got a 2.2, up from the second season premiere of NCIS: New Orleans last year, which got a 1.7. Its growth from NCIS indicates that it is stronger than NCIS: New Orleans, which premiered two years ago with had 86% retention (2.5 out of 2.9). The season premiere of NCIS: New Orleans got a 1.4, down from last season's finale's 1.8, and down from the 1.7 it started off the last season with. Both of those ratings were earned at 9:00.

On FOX, Brooklyn Nine-Nine started off the night and its season with a 1.0, which was up from the 0.9 on which it ended the last season, at 9:00, but down from the 1.5 it premiered at last season, when it aired on Sundays at 8:30. New Girl followed, kicking off its season with a 1.2, which is up from last season's finale, a 1.1 at 8:00, and down from the 1.4 of its previous season premiere, which aired in January, also at 8:00. Scream Queens, which hasn't aired since December, returned to a 1.0, up from the 0.9 it ended on in last season's two-hour finale, and down from the two-hour series premiere's 1.7.

On ABC, Dancing with the Stars scored a 1.5, down from Monday's 1.7. It was followed by the season premiere of Agents of SHIELD, scoring a 1.1 in its first episode in its new 10:00 timeslot, aside from two-hour season finales beginning at 9:00. This rating is up from the 1.0 it ended the last season on and down from the 1.7 it started that season with.

On the CW, a rerun of The Flash got a 0.3, and an original MADtv got a 0.2, flat with the 0.2 it earned in its last original, which was two weeks ago.
