After previously canceling it, CBS has handed a renewal to veteran drama S.W.A.T. for a seventh season. The series, which is co-produced by Sony, has seen middling ratings for most of its run but had a standout sixth season. In the Fridays at 8 pm time slot, S.W.A.T. hovered around the A18-49 league average in Live + Same Day ratings. This is a stark difference from just two seasons ago, where it averaged just 65% of the league average and was CBS’s lowest-rated renewal. The seventh season will run for thirteen episodes and will be the show's last.
Its cancelation on Friday drew much backlash from fans and star Shemar Moore alike, with CBS and Sony eventually cutting a deal to bring the show back for a 7th season. The 7th season will also serve as its final season.
With the renewal of S.W.A.T., CBS has now renewed all of their Friday lineup as well as every veteran series sans NCIS: Los Angeles. This is now an incorrect prediction for The TV Ratings Guide.
