TV's #1 show is saying goodbye, and very soon. Yellowstone will wrap its run after its current fifth season, the first half of which wrapped on New Years' Day 2023. Six episodes remain in the run of the series, which debuted in 2018 as a solid performer for a then-recently-rebranded Paramount Network. It rose in season two, then rose again in season three, and positively exploded in season four, becoming TV's #1 scripted series. Its fifth season is, thus far, it's highest-rated ever, with a humongous 1.49 average in the key 18-49 demographic - nearly nine tenths above TV's #2 show, Chicago Fire. The show has been plagued by drama this season, with reports of tension between creator Taylor Sheridan and star Kevin Costner, with a filming delay of the second half of season five allegedly being to blame for the conflict. Whether that on-set drama led to the demise of TV's top show is yet to be seen, but the ending of the show while it remains at its peak of popularity is a major development for TV either way. A spinoff of the series, with details to be announced later, has been ordered, which will allegedly pick up the story of the show's Dutton family where Yellowstone leaves off. The final episodes of Yellowstone will begin airing in November. Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes, Wes Bentley, Kelsey Asbille and Cole Hauser also star in the series alongside Costner.
