“Date Night”

COLD OPEN
FADE IN:
INT. BUSINESS HALLWAY – EARLY EVENING
Jesse, looking smug, walks out of the office. He was glad that he wasn’t fired for the pilot debacle,
but was mortified that Ash would say that his girlfriend is what is causing him to not act like himself.
Suddenly, he turns the corner to see his sexy girlfriend, Holly, looking like a fine dime, in his mind.

Holly (blowing a kiss): Yoohoo! Over here!

Jesse quickly runs towards her and grabs her with primal instinct. He kisses her passionately.

Jesse (in a low whisper): Hey babe, what are you up to?
Holly (sighs): Nothing. I’ve been waiting on you all day.

Holly grabs Jesse’s hand and excitedly walks towards Jesse’s office.

CUT TO
INT. JESSE’S OFFICE – CONTINUOUS
Holly and Jesse walk into the office, and plop on his office couch. They make out incessantly.
Suddenly, Holly pulls back.

Holly (whispers): Wait. Jesse, what are we doing?
Jesse (chuckles): You know, I’ve been waiting for this all day.

Jesse and Holly proceeded to kiss again. It was the heat of the moment, and
Jesse slowly attempts to unbutton Holly’s blouse. Then, Holly again pushes back.

Holly (surprised): What are we doing?
Jesse: Um, you know, just…
Holly: We’re at your office. Shouldn’t we…
Jesse (interrupts): Go to my place? Let’s go right now.

HOLLY buttons her blouse. JESSE and HOLLY exit.

END OF COLD OPEN

FADE IN:
INT. ASH’S HOUSE - EVENING
Ash relaxes with a glass of wine. Then there happens to be a knock on the door.
Ash then gets startled with pity. Then he rushes to the door, and Leah is outside.

Leah (shrugs shoulders): Ash! We need to talk. This is important business.
Ash (with a sigh): Okay, come on in.
Leah (walking in): Alright. We have a slight problem in the scripted department.
There were supposed to be four pilots to be picked up to series.
Ash: And?
Leah is mortified at what she is about to tell Ash.

Leah: There are only two.
Ash (puzzled): That is odd. Why don’t we just discuss this over dinner?
Leah: Alright. Sounds good. Let’s take a drive.

CUT TO

INT. JESSE’S HOUSE - FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER
Holly and Jesse enter through the door. Holly takes Jesse’s hand, seductively.

Jesse: Did you miss me?
Holly (flirtatiously): Oh yes.
Jesse: So, should we sit down?
Holly: Yes. We shall.

Jesse then confidently turns the speakers on.
Then, an extremely soulful and suggestive song plays in the background.
With swagger, he takes Holly’s hand and they proceed to sway to the music.

Holly (blushes): Oh wow. You’re really good at slow dancin’.

Jesse chuckles.

Jesse: Well, thank you, my lady.

CUT TO:
INT. ASH’S MERCEDES – NIGHT
Ash and Leah ride through the streets of Manhattan, where the view of the Manhattan skyline
is in view. He then turns to her, seeing that the look on her face was perplexing, to say the least.

Ash: Is everything alright?
Leah (turning to Ash): I’m alright. You know Ash, we are getting down to the wire.
We got less than 24 hours to screen those pilots. I’m getting really worried about upfronts.
Ash (in reassurance): I assure you. The test groups have been notified.
Leah (with a smile): Okay. I’m glad to know. Say, the skyline is beautiful. So where should we go eat?

Ash then takes a moment to think about fancy restaurants to eat at.

Ash: We could eat at Olive Garden, or we could go to a nice café. It’s your call.
Leah: The café sounds nice, Ash. Let’s head there.

CUT TO:
INT. JESSE’S HOUSE - CONTINUOUS
Jesse and Holly continue to dance throughout the night, then all of a sudden,
Holly seductively tugs at his tie, with anticipation.

Holly: You know what I’m thinking?
Jesse: What is it?
Holly: I think we should kiss again.
Jesse (with a smile): I thought you would never ask.

Jesse then leans towards Holly, puts his hands in her hair, and kisses her passionately.
Holly then unties Jesse’s tie. Afterwards, she escorts him to the bedroom.
Okay, folks. 12 year olds are reading this. This is a network comedy, not HBO. That’s just nasty.

CUT TO:

INT. CAFE - CONTINUOUS
Leah and Ash are in the cafe. A hostess is across from them, waiting.

Ash: Yes, table for two? Under Mr. Ash Chambers.
Hostess: Yes. Right this way, Mr. Chambers.

The pair are then escorted to their table. Ash then pulls a chair for Leah to sit, and then Ash sits down.

Leah: You're right. The ride does wonders.
Ash (with a chuckle): I enjoyed this more than I thought I would.
Leah: Talking about pilots, I have a good idea on where we're going. We got some good ones.
It's hard to choose. We got up-fronts coming up.
Ash: It's not long. I'm looking forward to the showings.
Leah: Marietta is testing positive, as well as Psych Med. Hopefully they go well at the presentation.
Ash: I got a feeling they will.

The dinner then begins. A waiter then comes to the table.

Waiter: Good evening, folks. What can I get you this evening?
Ash: Water, please.
Leah: Water with lemon.
Waiter: Okay, I’ll be bringing them to you soon.

The dinner then continues with meals and everything else. Coming up next week,
the aftermath of the two dates begins!
