ABC Renew/Cancel - February 9: Fresh Off the Boat is Likely to be Renewed

This week, my first incorrect prediction of the season came when Once Upon a Time was canceled, making my prediction record for the season 2-1 so far. It was a tricky show to predict both this year and last, and I got it right once and wrong once. Also this week, I have chose to downgrade a show that had made it all the way to "likely to be renewed" at one point to "certain to be canceled", as support from the network has dwindled, and ratings have worsened. The next two weeks, ABC renew/cancel will be on a break, as the Winter Olympics cause much of ABC's line-up to go on hiatus.

Format for predictions:
Show title (average 18-49 rating, season low-high)

Certain to be Canceled
Kevin Probably Saves the World (0.7, 0.5-1.0)

Likely to be Canceled
Inhumans (0.6, 0.4-0.9)

Toss-Up
Speechless (1.2, 1.0-1.4)

Likely to be Renewed
Agents of SHIELD (0.6, 0.5-0.7)
Designated Survivor (0.8, 0.7-1.1)
Fresh Off the Boat (1.0, 0.9-1.4)

Certain to be Renewed
American Housewife (1.3, 1.0-1.6)
Black-ish (1.1, 1.0-1.5)
The Good Doctor (1.8, 1.6-2.2)
Grey's Anatomy (2.1, 1.8-2.3)
How to Get Away with Murder (0.9, 0.8-1.1)

Fate Determined
The Goldbergs (RENEWED)
The Mayor (DE-FACTO CANCELED)
The Middle (FINAL SEASON)
Modern Family (RENEWED)
Once Upon a Time (CANCELED)
Scandal (FINAL SEASON)
Ten Days in the Valley (DE-FACTO CANCELED)

Fresh Off the Boat: Despite one of its lesser impressive performances this week, Fresh Off the Boat is still likely to be renewed, as its ratings are decent, it doesn't seem to be very lead-in dependant (if at all), and 20th Century FOX will want a 5th season for syndication purposes.

Kevin Probably Saves the World: This week, ABC didn't bother to promote the show. They didn't promote Tuesday's episode during its lead-in, and they didn't promote the next episode at the end of this week's. In addition, it hit a new low of 0.5. It's dead now.

Agents of SHIELD: Some people may argue that the cancelation of Once Upon a Time means something for Agents of SHIELD. Some may argue that the shows were in competition, so this is good news for SHIELD. Others may argue that the cancelation of Once Upon a Time being canceled shows ABC's disappointment in their Friday night line-up, so SHIELD is next. I think, however, that the cancelation of Once Upon a Time means absolutely nothing when it comes to this show's fate, so read about why I think it's getting renewed in last week's edition.
